Poor Lee Haskins, whats a guy gotta do to get his shot?

If theres an all Brit marry go round on the IBF BW title these days then surely Haskins is well overdue his shot,Eddie should snap him up,he's definitely awkard enough to win a portion of a world title

Haskins was due to face off in an eliminator on the Hall v Butler bill but that was cancelled so hopefully that can be made for this bill when it gets made.

Have to hold my hands up and say the overall bill they put on last time out in Newcastle was very good value, so hopefully we see the same this time around.

Haskins? What about McDonnell, the actual champ.

I don't think he's in boxing for the money to be fair, I'm sure he won't want to lose any but I don't think anyone could have predicted Golden Boy offering that kind of money. £37,000 each is derisory for a world title, obviously Golden Boy thought they could get it on the cheap.

Do you think that is derisory? I think they bid market value-what did Hall get for Butler and Ward? I would be surprised if it was that much.

People knew the score. He won the belt in a vacant title fight. He had to defend in six months...he didn't and he got stripped.

He is hardly some sort of victim

I'd imagine some champions in the lower weight classes get well less than £37k per defence.

Exactly...but of course it was all the IBF's fault, and not McDonnell and his camp's fault for trying to break contract.

Look...Hall was the champion. He beat a guy for the title who everyone expected him to lose to. He then got a questionable decision against him against a guy who is being groomed for stardom. You have to be working of an agenda, or being a bit daft to think he doesn't deserve to be one of two guys to fight for the now vacant title

On the other hand if you're Iwasa or Zhakiyanov or Haskins...you've got to feel like the IBF are giving multiple opportunities to other fighters before you get a chance

My original concern was how the hell Hall had got himself into an eliminator when the likes of Haskins were being kept on the outside.

Still, once the IBF started down that route, I agree with the guy who had been paid to step aside, and the guy who was the ex-champion and maybe got a bit of a dodgy one against him fighting for the title.

The three you mention deserve to be in the mix though, no doubt

The only thing Haskins is doing wrong is that he's not promoted by Denis Hobson. Lee should adopt a Geordie accent, get a Newcastle tattoo across his chest, sign with Hobson, and suddenly the IBF will fall over themselves to get him into championship bouts.

What are you talking about. So because he got stripped, that means its only fair that he gets frozen out?

I'm a Hobson fan, I wasn't impressed with how McDonnell went about leaving him at all.

Not that its really got anything to do with the issue. Are you saying that the IBF should duly note how he fucked Hobson and treat him accordingly?

TBH the actual reasoning that the IBF gave for stripping McDonnell was strange at best..I can only put it down to Hobson knowing his way around the block with the IBF who he has a long history with dating back to the Clinton Woods days.

When all is said and done I say Kudos to Hobson for putting his money where his mouth is.
Looking forward to the show hopefully coming to Newcastle. Maybe we can introduce Oscar DLH to the charms of the local Geordie nightlife, casino & girls! :KO:

Hobson must have felt he was going to lose too much money if he put the show on here, the ticket sales haven't been great for the last couple of fights. Don't know what they're going to do TV wise though, Warren's Liverpool show's on the same night and Matchroom have a show in Hull that day as well.

He obviously got the shot because the IBF recognized he had been ripped off in the butler fight.

My first thought when I spotted this story was...."F*CK RIGHT OFF!"

When McDonnell got stripped, a guy on page 2 of boxrecs bantamweight rankings fought a guy on page 3 of boxrecs bantamweight rankings

then in his first defense, we see British no2 bantam vs British no5 bantam, in a fight barely worth of the Lonsdale strap. Which results in a draw

then he loses his title to a 15 fight novice super flyweight (all the while avoiding facing Jamie McDonnell and more importantly Lee Haskins who has beaten all the top British bantams)

now that butler has relinquished the title to go back down to his strongest weight, Hall gets another shot at a vacant title,

despite having a record of 0-1-1 defending the crown, Hall could go on to be a 2-time world champion with out ever having faced a title holder if he beats Caballero?

I'm all for supporting British boxers but this is an absolute effing joke

and don't give me "that's just the boxing is, with corrupt rankings and dodgy alphabet belts".
this debacle is an absolute embarrassment and far worse than the standard jiggery pokerry that goes on for world titles these days

Haskins and McDonnell must be sick seeing this, not to mention the guys ranked top ten in the world that are not getting the shots
IBF gave Hall his second shot because they could see his loss to butler was a disgusting decision, McDonnell is to far up himself to deserve another shot with hall and haskins is just a dirty fowling clinging and punching when the ref can't see mouth on a stick. And hall's first defence the corner pulled his opponent the ref was dictated to by the corner, the ref didn't inspect the cut the corner man gave the ref a shake of his head and that to me is the corner pulling their man.

If he didn't fade in the later rounds and stopped grappling and punching when the ref can't see he wouldn't have won a lot of his fights
