Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
It's the number of incorrect assumptions that makes me laugh.
Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
The fights 3 weeks away. All well and good Hearn saying it's in the contract but why have they not been tested so far? Random testing should be done right through fight camps as that's where the benefit is highest and when you would catch cheaters. Worrying that team Porter still denying there will be any testing
Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
Hearn again has just confirmed that testing is there, and mentioned Golden Boy in the tweet. I agree jack that it's late in the day, but that's the fault of the testing agency. Hopefully will be tested soon.
There seems to be a worrying trend of lies from the Porter camp though.

Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
I thought the point of random drug testing was that it was random and that athetes don't know when they will be coming.
Take yesterday at the commonwealth games, they interviewed a swimmer who qualified for the final in the morning, then instead of going and recovering for the final he was whisked off to be tested for 2hrs as he couldn't wee.
Why not make them do a drug test the morning of the fight, but also make it mandatory for drug testing

Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
I'll use Olympic weightlifting as an example. A significant number of the top lifters in the sport use drugs during their training programmes and then stop using (or mask use) at the last possible moment to get through the tests. They often conduct their own tests before putting their athletes on the plane. That's perhaps why you'll sometimes see a number of the lifters from the same team suddenly get back injuries and what not at the 11th hour and withdraw from the competition. This happened with a number of the Russian lifters before the 2012 Olympics. It's not uncommon for some of these guys to be stronger in the gym than they are on the stage. That's why on the day testing alone is not fit for purpose - you can still get a lot of the benefits of PEDs without actually 'pissing hot' on the night.nitro5912 wrote:Why not make them do a drug test the morning of the fight, but also make it mandatory for drug testing
Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
Exactly, first they accuse Brook and Hearn of not having the contract signed and sent off, so Hearn contacts the IBF and Goldenboy to confirm its been received, surprise surprise they received it already. So instead of blaming Matchroom its not impossible that Goldenboy and team Porter have got there wires crossed, especially with the changes Goldenboy are going through.DMA1987 wrote:Hearn again has just confirmed that testing is there, and mentioned Golden Boy in the tweet. even if they have got there wires crossed they haven't been 'random tested' as im sure they would rememberdigzee wrote:Exactly, first they accuse Brook and Hearn of not having the contract signed and sent off, so Hearn contacts the IBF and Goldenboy to confirm its been received, surprise surprise they received it already. its no good being in the contract if they don't actually do it...

I'm just pointing out that its not Hearn's fault, as the OP suggests and suggests and suggests.sweetscience wrote:even if they have got there wires crossed they haven't been 'random tested' as im sure they would rememberdigzee wrote:Exactly, first they accuse Brook and Hearn of not having the contract signed and sent off, so Hearn contacts the IBF and Goldenboy to confirm its been received, surprise surprise they received it already. Not really bothered about whose fault it is, but ridiculous that random testing should even be up for debate. Should be mandatory for any world title fight.

A little bit strange that his 'natural resilience' disappeared overnight though, no? Paulie's toughness/chin has been one of his biggest attributes throughout his career & there'd been no indication pre-Porter that it was in decline. No-one has ever even come close to doing to him what Porter did that night, not even Cotto when he ended up fracturing his jaw.columbo wrote:So would you say Ward is on the juice aswell seeing as he works with Conte aswell? Porter has always been strong. Did you know that he boxed as an amateur at 165 pounds or that on his debut he weighed 170 lbs? Also he's 26 now. Maybe earlier on in his career he still hadnt fully developed his power. You also have to take into account that Paulie is 33 now and has been in a lot of tough fights and his natural resilience has started to wain.Manchester Hitman wrote:Alexander said Porter was like the Ultimate Warrior and Paulie has never been hit harder then anybody else and was nearly put into a coma...before these two recent fights Porter was not known as a beast or a massive hitter and then suddenly he starts working with conte..columbo wrote:No offense but where's the proof that Porter is effing on anything anyway?! Just because he works with Conte and because Malignaggi insinuated something after getting his arse handed to him?! If this was a british fighter and people were accusing him of being on something without any proof whatsover, people would be going nuts on here.
The way that it appeared to be man v boy that night was striking & had me raising my eyebrows for sure.

What are these incorrect assumptions boss?jameswilson wrote:It's the number of incorrect assumptions that makes me laugh.
Bareing in mind that Kell Brook himself said he wasn't happy with the situation..
Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
Think it might turn out to be a bit of a non story actually...the fight has only been signed a few weeks, probably just a logistical issue. Isn't brook flying out next week? Perhaps the US based agency decided to wait till both fighters are in the US before testing begins? Considering it was only about a four week window between the fight getting signed and brook landing on US soil they won't have missed a great deal of the possible testing window.
Re: No random testing organised for Porter - Brook
Malignaggi fought Cotto 8 years ago and when he was 25 years old and very fresh. He's been in a lot of tough fights since then and remember he also had trouble with Hatton whose style whilst not exactly the same as Porters is not that dissimilar and was shook up and eventually stopped in that fight. 3 of his 6 losses have been via stoppage so whilst Porter done it in more devastating fashion, it's not like he hasnt been stopped before. Neither Khan or Hatton are particularily big one punch artists either.GooalaShooola wrote:A little bit strange that his 'natural resilience' disappeared overnight though, no? Anyone working with Conte has to be considered suspect given his track record (no pun intended).columbo wrote:So would you say Ward is on the juice aswell seeing as he works with Conte aswell?
