Canelo-Lara RBR
Re: Canelo-Lara RBR
It was a close fight and I could see varied scoring, depends on what you prefer. I had it 116-112 Canelo. He forced the fight, had great body work, and landed the harder punches upstairs too. Lara might have scored cleaner when he threw, but did way too much running for my liking, plus had a low punch output. With that said, I could easily see this fight being a draw or 115-113 Lara, again depending on the style you preferred. To me, Lara just ran way too much.....
Re: Canelo-Lara RBR
Lara looked shaken a couple or times while the Alvarez body shots were point scorers and effective but never managed to break Lara down.
Slack boxing skill, periods of inactivity and wild misses downgraded Canelo,it was sloppy.
Remember Floyd Mayweather looked out of the ring during the 11th round after Canelo threw one of his wild shots ... it was like that.
Some of the rounds were close and won on a brief spurts, single punches or defence.
Lara schooled Paul Williams back in the day and didn't get the nod there either.

Re: Canelo-Lara RBR
Lara was irritating me with as much moving as he was doing. I thought Canelo won the fight. However, I can see a case for Lara winning as well. If you prefer ring generalship and precise punching, you give Lara more rounds. If you prefer aggression and power, you give Canelo more rounds. The amount of landed punches were in the same ball park. So, I was not surprised by the S/D.

Well, they either were or they weren't. He doesn't retroactively lose rounds because he also missed some shots.Evander wrote:Lara looked shaken a couple or times while the Alvarez body shots were point scorers and effective but never managed to break Lara down.

I thought his body work was at least as effective as Lara's work to the head, and last time I checked that's just as important. I had Canelo winning 7-5
