What a sad picture. Looks like 2 crack-heads getting their mugshots at the same time :(

I agree, everyone involved in this fight should be ashamed of themselves, but if there's a dollar to make from them, then i don't suppose they will be :(

You've gota laugh at that picture though, either that or cry. They both look embarassed to be there.

If I'm clutching at straws, Courtney Fry put up a half decent effort against Maccarinelli not so long ago... but yeah, I'm not even convincing myself. I'm not too sure who exactly wants to see this?

Courtney goes down to York occasionally to help out as he's mates with the coach. He is far from a crackhead. Does some great stuff.

x2, Courtney is a really nice guy, always has been. The mugshot joke is quite funny though and it is mental that we've reached this moment with Roy Jones.

Even more amazing Courtney is only 5/1 to win, what would of been those odds a few years ago?
Is RJJ skint? he earned millions in his career and seems to be good behind the microphone (one of the best ex boxers i've heard for a while) , so he must earn a semi decent living off that as well.

Its always a shame when such a talent goes on too long, but also its his life and he seems to have all his faculties, so it doesn't seem he's being exploited by others.

As for the fight, i'd expect a RJJ points win.

Only probably by a couple of rounds. Bizarre they picked a fairly obscure British light-heavy. They could at least have asked Enzo.

The real shame is that in my lifetime Roy Jones was the best and quickest fighter i have seen (on the tv) and yet every year that goes by his legacy is plummeting.

Roy Jones period of boxing as a washed up fighter (2004-present) has now equalled the length of his dazzling prime (1993-2003). Soon he will eclipse it.

Haha, quite possibly. I'm sure Fry knew the drill for this, he wasn't going to be upsetting anyone's party was he.

What actually happened. Fry got dropped at the end of the fifth, recovered and went to his corner. The end.

Interesting question actually he is shot be he isn't actually THAT bad he is probably still fringe world level with some of the performances he put in

Not that I expect him to fight them but who is the highest ranked/best opponent that his version of RJJ could beat?

Jones Jr is turning into an Emmanuel Augustus character minus the dance moves.

It's a very good question.

At the moment of the knockdown the director was feeding us a shot of a man sat at ringside. He cut back to find Fry sailing to the floor. He apparently got up and took the opportunity to quit on his stool, and there was no replay at any time in the postfight of the actual knockdown itself.

Remind me never to watch a Latvian broadcast ever again.

At moments like this I cast my mind back to 1997 and rjj playing basketball, commentating, and fighting Eric luca the same day,his reluctant roy tag, the aura of invincibility he had allied with his I fight twice a year cos I don't need to do this I don't wanna end up like McClellan or Ali, I'm gonna retire early this is too easy for me Aura

He was the last fighter you'd think of in the 90-2003 era of hanging around too long ,falling down to this level.

It's like floyd in 2030 still fighting every two months in clubshows in Estonia for cheap money.

Anyway that aside Roy Jones jnr in 2014 still has some of the fastest hands in boxing,he's beating these guys,I genuinely think he doesn't need the money he's just a competitir.he was still very useful till the green debacle and he almost beat lebedev

I agree Mugabi, the current situation is just nuts.

I didn't know that he even had a passport - his first 20 years as a pro he only boxed in the US, and in the last couple of years he has boxed in Australia, Russia, Poland and Latvia !

It is really sad to see.

i really dont see the problem, he fought a guy who didnt cause him any problems so he didnt take hardly any punches, the fans enjoyed it and Roy gets to carry on playing champion and doing what he loves ?

id be worried if he starts trying to get major title shots but at this level its harmless, hes clearly still good enough to beat lower fighters

I know what you are saying mate, however I guess that he still spars, and even if the punches are not causing him any (immediately visible) problems, he is still taking shots.

Also, if he is still boxing now - and winning - then it is unlikely that he will just decide to stop one day, which means that there is a problem waiting to happen.

In fact, the more he wins then the bigger the problem could be, because he then possibly fights a better calibre of opponent and keeps going until he either gets either ko'ed or a sustained beating.
