It's as spurious as having a specific championship for all countries that have an 'I' In their name. It's not about geography, it's basically 'former British territories' championship which is rather odd. Ps I assume Jamaica is a commonwealth country? If so, will Usain Bolt run?
A boxer from NI will struggle to get much mainstream coverage even if they win a European gold but will be front page news if they Commonwealth Games gold - but the I would suggest that it is a significantly greater achievement to win a gold at the Euros!
