RING Magazine Cover Quiz #2

Post by Ric »

Name the non-professional boxers whose images were featured solo on a cover of THE RING magazine prior to 1985. There were about five of them, according to my preliminary research.

BoxRec and Wikipedia Editors cannot play.

I'd have to think that Teofilo Stevenson was one of them.

Close, but he was not alone on the cover. BTW: Does anyone know who his opponent is on this cover?

Fleischer was on the first cover, but with Lord Lonsdale. The Marquis was never on a cover, at least pre-1985, to my knowledge. De Niro is correct, however (Feb 1981).

Howard Cosell and Don King (I think), both in the early 80's.

Is anyone else going to take a guess? I'm really curious about the WWII-era covers.

Only two more covers to guess correctly, generally speaking :box:

So we have MacArthur, Ike, Don King, Cosell, and De Niro. Nice little bit of trivia to know.

That was a lot of fun. Good job Ric :TU:
