Porter started his professional career as a MW. Brook still has enough time to break his hand, get a cut or just say that he is expecting to fight Mayweather and withdraw like many of his fellow British fighters do :)

Brook is one of the very very very very few world level British fighters. There just aren't many.

He's not beating Porter.

He does not appear to be a real hard puncher, has so-so defense, is a decent boxer, but will have trouble when fighting in close I think. Porter, although short, is a pretty solid big welter that looks like he really cuts to get there. Brook to me looks like he could make 140 without too much trouble.
You must be high. He is very tight at the weight.
What makes you so confident he couldnt make 140?

Have you seen Kell's build? He's pretty stocky muscle wise. No way in hell could he make 140. He struggles with 147.

The fact that he doesn't easily make 147.

I think to of his most recent weigh ins were 146 and 146.1 (Senchenko and Sldivia)

Must not struggle too much.

That's probably because he boils himself down. Quite often guys that struggle with the weight tend to end up taking a bit too much off when they do weigh in.

I will admit he does look pretty fit and trim in the weigh in picture I saw. Welter probably is a good weight for him. I would still guess that other than height, Porter will look like the bigger over-all guy, but I could be wrong.

He can make 140, he just wouldn't want to. It requires discipline.

There is supposed to be random drug testing, but Kell said so far he hasn't been tested.

he's a sheffield fan, these guys pretty much live inside Brook's jockstrap. i'd take his word on Brook's weight above most opinions on this board

ever heard the phrase 'nose-dive at the weight'?

example: McLellan weighed in something like 165lbs for the Nigel Benn fight

now i know you're knowledgeable enough to know McLellan was a big big guy @ 168lbs, so..... :TU:

Does anyone expect there to be a surge of patriotic money wagered on Kell Brook as the fight draws closer?

You know this fight is one I am very much looking forward to. Brook needs a signature win, and if he beats Porter, it will vault him into other big money fights. 32-0 but basically untested against elite guys. Porter, on the other hand may end up being the fringe contender or prove his elite status by beating Brook down. He certainly has the advantage in more important wins so far.

If it is a close fight, more questions arise I guess. Looking forward to it.

Not really. Brook isn't known in the UK like some of the other fighters who have gone over to the States. He's very much under the radar.

Height wise Brook is 5ft 9 and Porter 5ft 7 with the same reach 69 inch.

Porter looks top heavy but those wild lunging hooks were dangerous and that is what Brook needs to counter. If Porter lunges misses and is hit Brook stops him.

Not in a million years would Brook make 140lbs - Picture from a previous camp and this was weeks out before the fight.

Brook wins via mid-late stoppage and I am lumping cash on him

Porter is more like 5'5/5'6 I reckon. He's pretty bloody short. I imagine Kell will dwarf him somewhat in that department.

One thing that interests me about this fight is that I think each of them has shown weaknesses that the other is particularly suited to exploit. In my view Porter's somewhat wild, lunging offensive makes him vulnerable to the accurate, sharp counters of Brook, while Brook's history of fading seems to reflect stamina problems that will be especially problematic against an energetic fighter with a good engine like Porter. By extension I think Brook would have a tougher time crawling back from a deficit and therefore it's more important for him to start strong.

I'm very excited for this one as each has impressed me and I think there will be drama.

Kell Brook's been fighting since 2004. It's amazing it's taken him this long to get a decent fight. I'm pretty sure he had some part to play in that....
