If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
On a scale of 1-10, how shocked will you be?
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
won t happen
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
If Salka defeats Garcia ... The same chances.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
I'm not sure how I'd put in on that scale but I'd be very surprised. Kovalev has been cut by headbutts in two fights over the last year (Clev and Agnew), so I think Caparello's best chance of winning is due to a cut.

I'd be shocked if this goes 3 rounds.

I think there a tiny glimmers of Kovalev and Golovkin being outboxed. There was a little bit against Cleverley, there was in the 3rd round with Geale. The Russians start to look a tiny bit ruffled and untidy ...and then moments later win by definitive stoppage. Perhaps Caparello can outbox the guy for a few rounds. 12 rounds is unlikely though.

My jaw will drop. Caparello might last 7 rounds though. I think he can frustrate Sergey a little bit.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Yeah, Caparello is actually fairly skilled. He has fast hands and he moves well. His punches are a little wide though and the lack of power might mean that Sergey has no fear and procedes to hunt him down without any real fear of what's coming back which will make it tough for Blake. Like you I think he might have a bit of success in the first 3 rounds or so in atleast proving hard to pin down but once Kovalev works him out, he's fucked basically.Riddick Blowe wrote:My jaw will drop. It was interesting reading the piece in this week's Boxing News on Kovalev's training. It looks like he uses his heavy hands to fairly brutal effect. Against Cleverley he was instructed to target his shoulders and biceps. Sounds painful!columbo wrote:Yeah, Caparello is actually fairly skilled. He has fast hands and he moves well. I hear in golovkins corner against geale "go for the arms and chest"
I can see this fight unfolding in a fairly similar fashion.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Caparello is an undefeated, top 10 ranked fighter. A technical southpaw with good defensive style. Situation is similar to Provodnikov v Algieri except Kovalev is far better then Provodnikov and Caparello cant punch at all. So yes Kovalev is a favorite but I would not be too surprised if he looses. 2/10

Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Kovalev and GGG could exchange corners and the plan would be the same. The strategy is simple, go forward and crush. Opponents know this so these two are going to face a lot of movement and anxious attempts to evade punches. Getting clubbed anywhere on your person isn't going to be fun against these behemoths. Gonna be a cakewalk for the cornermen if/when both of these guys hit superstardom.scottearley123456 wrote:

Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Caparello is undefeated, because he haven't fought anybody from top 50. I will be really surprised if he survives more than 4 rounds.Tarkus wrote:Caparello is an undefeated, top 10 ranked fighter. Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Green was easily top 50 (in his previous 3 he beat Demers, dropped Kessler before being knocked out, then stopped St-Juste) and I'd say Berridge is around top 25 now, though admittedly he wasn't when he fought Caparello.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
That simply isn't true as crusader explained. You dont get no9 in boxrec for nothing. This is not Rob Salka who fought bums and has 3 defeats, plus in a lower division. You also have to look at a style. He moves well and defends body from a Philly shell stance, good inside game as well. It is a challenge for Kov.ikorolev wrote:Caparello is undefeated, because he haven't fought anybody from top 50. I will be really surprised if he survives more than 4 rounds.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Keeps his right hand very low and tries to shoulder roll which against someone with a good left hook like Kovalev is dangerous. Will probably be the shot that takes him out.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
We shall see, but I expect his style to fall apart when Kovalev starts touching him.Tarkus wrote:That simply isn't true as crusader explained. You dont get no9 in boxrec for nothing. Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Well, Caparello looks tough.
He will be hoping to land a big shot and hope Kovalev is distracted with all the BHop buzz.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Caparello's KO ratio is under 1/3, so he couldn't KO most of bums he fought. How in the world can he even hope to KO Kovalev ???Badhusker wrote:Well, Caparello looks tough. He will be hoping to land a big shot and hope Kovalev is distracted with all the BHop buzz.
Re: If Caparello defeats Kovalev...
Right now, the possibility doesn't even exist in my mind.
