That's more like it! Please god Danny, stop fornicating eating and come in in something resembling fighting shape.

If he comes in at that weight again, Skelton will overwhelm him. Danny has better technique, but his workrate has been attrocious more often than not lately.

Does this mean that Skelton still won't get a lonsdale belt? I still think it was an error by ITV and he has one (thought Long was a mandatory).

Too soon for Danny this one, he needs to lose the pounds. Has he got time?

He's got until February, and he presumably was in training for the last fight, though hard to tell that by looking at him.

Not just by looking at him. By the way he fought and the way he was knackered after 7 piss poor rounds.

I was being facetious....it was clear he was in pretty abysmal physical condition. If that had been Skelton that night, he would have gotten mullered. Skelton might be limited, but he doesn't want for fitness or tenacity.

Williams is not going to shift that weight, he has had ample opportunity to do so but its clear as day he's a fat slob who eats like a horse. Skelton will destroy him if he comes in over 19 stone again.

No Long definatly was not a mandatory and he ain't got a Lonsdale belt for keeps yet. I think the board might give Skelton one if he beats Williams because he was the mandatory in june and the board might install him as mandatory before the fight, Williams certainly should be now over Gammer.

As for the fight i think if Williams comes in that condition for this fight he'll get stopped because he won't be able to deal with the pace, he was blowing in the Fraudley fight when nothing happend! That Skelton right-cross looked pretty tasty last time out too.

Quite how this is anything like a world title eliminator is beyond me, neither has beaten anywhere close to a top 10 heavyweight in their careers. More bullshit from Frankie.

Danny Williams has fought for a world title, and has also beaten Mike Tyson...who the fornicate had Ruiz beaten to get a shot at Holyfield?

It doesn't matter about the whys and wherefores, don't be surprised to see the winner of this fight get a shot at Lamon Brewster.

I don't want to see Danny in with Lamon, not with Lamon's power. I would like to see Danny go for the Chris Byrd route and Skelton maybe look for Brewester - or Valuev.

gotta agree with Nick, Danny is becoming the new Mike Tyson...

"IF he comes to fight and in shape he will be great.....blah blah, really trained hard.... blah blah"

but when fight time comes it seems they are worse prepared than the previous time....

Danny eats TOO much... end of story.....

He doesnt take drugs/alcohol/smoke but he loves his food.....

Williams will get pasted by anyone resembling world class, the Tyson he beat was beyond shot. McBride subsequently beat him say no more! And I'm not buying into this theory that Tyson was much different in either bout. The suggestion that Tyson was almost back to his old self in the first couple of rounds against Williams always has me chuckling. One punch from anything like the old Tyson would have Williams out for about 5 minutes! Williams' level was shown when he lost to Samil Sam who has fallen short of the top level himself, forget Williams' shingles excuse he comes out with something different every time he gets beaten.

Skelton seems to be a hot favorite, but don't forget, he hasn't fought anyone remotely threatening. Never faced a genuine puncher either.

When Danny hits him on the chin, there's always the chance he could come a cropper. He was flattened a few times as a kickboxer I hear.

You are missing the point, having Tyson on his CV, gives him a leg up in the ratings. Audley Harrison was rated in the top 15 by the IBF and WBA also, so Danny will have probably leapt into the top 10-15 next time the ratings come around, which means he would be eligible as a non mandatory title challenger.....if Skelton beats him, then he probably gets in the top 15 too.

MW: Agreed, no way should either be a hot favourite for the exact reasons you have given.... Skelton has never fought anyone who could dig like you say.... Although Sprott is half decent when he plants his feet....
Did he rattle Skelton at all?? i didnt see that fight???

Skelton was stopped by Jerome Le Banner... I believe it was a punch.. Le Banner is a HUGE southpaw... who has knocked out pretty much everyone of note he has fought...

Williams must presumably be able to match Le Banner for power but K1 matches are different. its 3 or 5 rounds and people really go for KO's plus you have the added distraction of watching out for low kicks which can leave your chin exposed....etc etc

Skelton has a WBO number 11 rating too, so if he were to win he'd probably jump up in those ratings.

LeBanner did KO skelton with punches i have the fight on my hard drive (i'll try to upload it when i have time) but as knockout said LeBanner is a massive puncher and had a brief pro career himself (3-0 (2)). One guy who did shake Skelton was the lump that they call Bob Mirovic who can bang but ain't much cop, so he can be hurt.

Sprott didn't really land anything of real note. He is a decent puncher when he plants his feet, but he was really looking under the cosh against Skelton, and didn't really make a fight of it.

I would love to see that fight (Le Banner V Skelton). I was looking for it for a long time but could never get it...
Would greatly appreciate it if you could upload it somewhere when you have chance.

My point is Williams isnt and never will be a world class fighter its already been proven he is a decent domestic operator and nothing more. He failed in a bid for the European title whatever the excuses that tells us his level I think. A lot is made of his win over Tyson and while its a good name Tyson is way below world class level himself and has been for years. McBride has beaten him and he's about an area title level fighter!

I agree, Williams is probably not even European level after the way Sam handled him. He did well to withstand the initial onslaught from Tyson, but was lucky to be there on a night when Tyson's will to fight finally deserted him completely.....

Nevertheless, that means nothing in boxing, and I will not be surprised to see him get a shot again.

Talking about Williams fitness, against Harrison he basically trained himself. so there is no way that he was in good shape, this showed in the weight he came in at, and also that fact that he couldn't throw many shots each round.

Since this he has said that he will go back to Jim Mcdonnell , i'm not sure that is the right move for him, i'm not doubting McDonnells ability, but i think for Williams he needs a different person pushing him to get into shape for the Skelton fight.
If he does get into a decent condition, than i pick Williams to win. By the 5th round.
If he comes into the ring in the same shape as he did against Harrison, than Skelton will wear him down inside of 8 rounds.
