True Moore was 0-3 vs Charles. However he was 4-1 vs Harold Johnson, 3-1 vs Jimmy Bivins, and 3-0 vs Joey Maxim. He also has several wins over over other good light heavyweights. That puts in the conversation as the best lightheavyweight.

Charles was 3-0 vs Moore, 3-0 vs Maxim (at light heavy), and 3-1 vs Bivins

Tunney beat Levinsky, Carpentier, Tommy Gibbons, and won an 8-round Newspaprer decision over an almost prime Loughran.

Spinks dominated a very deep era, which almost never happens. He beat Mustapha Muhammad, Qawi, and Marvin Johnson, as well as several other good fighters.

They are all very close.

Charles was an underrated HW. As champions go he is at the very least to 20. And closer to top 10.

It was probably space Aliens.....though some subscribe to the theory that they were built by the Egyptians who traveled their for the cooler climate.

And...in a bit of Irony, the one fight that Charles ended in top fashion, was the one he came closest to being KO'd himself.

Those two were FAR more evenly matched than their records would indicate.

100% is a difficult percentage for people to put in perspective. But if that tells the whole story, then Sven Ottke is one of the greatest fighters to ever lace 'em up.

Buzz, you are are very big on Moore but you got to admit Charles was his master. :box:

He was the "master" of getting the nod over Moore in some very close fights. But had they fought 4 more times......Archie would have won them all. Well not all, but the final 4 fights.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me.

I see no compelling argument as to why Moore is considered the greatest LHW.....I see Spinks, Tunney, Charles and even Foster as greater.

As mentioned before, he beat beat Johnson 4 times, Maxim 3 times, and Bivins three times. That puts him up with the very best.

Ezzard Charles was the greatest LHW of all time, title or no title.

Gene Tunney, with almost the same conviction, is not far behind.

Then I would say Archie Moore. And that's unbelievable, considering how great he was.

Which speaks volumes to the abilities of Gene and Ezzard.
