The problem with Hopkins-Kovalev...

Post by Kaaspeer »

If Kovalev wins, he beat an old man. If Hopkins wins, he beat a bum who was exposed by an old man.
Do you see the problem? This is actually a great fight, but neither will be given the deserved credit for winning...

I disagree. If Hopkins won he would be praised to high heaven, and, if Kovalev wins, he'll make a lot of money and likely destroy a guy who has never been destroyed before.

no.

total crap what you sayin.

if hopkins wins against the arguably p4p #1 puncher in ALL DAMN WORLDWIDE BOXING,
if he beat a the arguably most feared boxer aside golovkin, than it would be an upset
bigger than pacquiao-marquez 4.

at age 49-50 beating the biggest puncher boxing has to offer, who has solid defence,
has quality footwork and can KO with 1 punch either head or body.

if X pulled a win, it would in my eyes be easily of one of 5 most memeorable things
ever happening in boxing, like a miracle. a 50 year old doesnt win against
the strongest puncher of boxing, that not imagible, if he did this, he would do
the unimagible.

and if kova wins, which I highly expect him to do, than it is a win over a ATG.
which is always good, unless the atg is totaly out of shape like toney, or
totaly lost his prime like jones. but neither did X, he still in pretty much good shape
and even so he is not the primetime boxer he used to be, he still has some athletic ability
and skills left.

No.
Save the bum part Kaspeer is right.

If being 49 means something when he wins and according to you it does then it must mean something when loses too.

He's in good shape for a 49-year-old which is not the same as a much younger man being in good shape.
Even the alien can't do a lot of things that he could when he was younger.

I can see that holding true for Kovalev but not so much for Hopkins. Sergei has been praised as an unstoppable force for some time now and if Bernard at the near age of 50 can pull it off ( unlikely ) he will move up a place or two on most people's p4p all time list.

Bhop is already in my top 5. Best fighter I've watched live on tv. I saw Hagler, SRL, Sweet Pea, Holmes, Floyd, Manny, etc.

He has fought basically the best at various ages and constantly improved his fine craft.Floyd may do some things better, but how long past 40 will he fight? Why not take more dangerous fights ? (not even referencing PacMan either).
