Chris Byrd vs. Hasim Rahman.

Post by VG_Addict »

Let's say that Byrd fought Rahman after the latter beat Lewis back in 2001. Who would have won?

I think Byrd wins this pretty clearly. Rahman had one shot power but I don't think it would matter against Byrd who had a great chin . I do think it would be pretty boring though.

At that stage in the game, Byrd was at his best. Not pleasant to watch, and rather boring, however he got the job done with some awful large and powerful guys. I gotta figure, if Rahman split with Tua 1-1-1, and Byrd won a decision rather comfortably over Tua, then I imagine he'd done the same against Rahman.

Rahman and Tua only had two fights, not three.

Honestly Henry, what's going on with you today?

Bleh, my mind is on the fritz I guess. Still, they went the distance both times, so my opinion doesnt change much.

So, Byrd wins a decision over Rahman, and becomes the lineal HW champion.

Then, he loses to Lewis.

No, Tua stopped Rahman in the first fight.

Rahman is up there with Marvin Hart and Shannon Briggs as one of the weakest lineal HW champs ever. He had heart and decent strength/power (with an OK jab that was heavy but slow . . .highly over-rated throughout his career) but not much else.

It's hard to think of a lineal heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman could actually beat. There can't be many.

Today? i'd be concerned if HH ever made a post without saying something woefully incorrect.

Anyway, Byrd by UD.

:D It did happen, didn't it?

How many would he have beat 2 out of 3?
Briggs and Hart are maybes. Possibly Willard, Carnera, Braddock, and Leon Spinks as well.

Its hard for me to judge against the real old timers.

I literally have no idea what a Rahman vs. Carnera fight would even look like.

I could see him take Spinks 2 out of 3.

Question- who is Spinks 2nd best win? Bernardo Mercado

Well done for entirely missing my point.

And in response to Alp, I think he'd never land clean on the crowding, frenzied Leon Spinks of the first Ali fight. I don't know how all that musclemass would carry over 15 fast-paced rounds.

I would also pick the Spinks from the first Ali fight to beat Rahman as well. Some of his other performances were probably good enough to beat Rahman as well. Of course, Spinks could look awful as well. Overall, I would lean toward Rahman to win 2 out of 3.

Never thought about it before, but Carnera and Rahman actually have some similarities. They were both easy to hit, had decent but not great power, (Though they each won the title with one big punch) and were aggressive.

There are several Carnera fights on Youtube that you can watch. There a few of Braddock, and even a few of Willard. Check them out some time.
