What do you expect from these euro clowns. They can't stand it when American fighters get any press or attention.

Ward cheats. Wilder fights nobody. Hopkins cheats. Floyd is a duck. All the same regurgitated BS.
Very true. Shouldn't get to excited about the euro guys. Pretty much hear the same crap day after day. I think they are mad because most of their guys suck.

If by "irony" you mean 98.9% of British fighters sucking then, yes, the irony.

Ironic truth. Less than 5 fighters in the entire country worth a sh*t on world level. And 1 of those about to be exposed in the coming days.

Wilder hits hard, obviously, but he has pencil legs and is a knockout waiting to happen. They've been very careful to keep him far away from any hard punchers.

Yeah cuz there's not many Euro champions or contenders these days

I get the point you're making, but some people just want to see Wilder tested. Sure, some of its flag waving or US fighter hate. For me, I was a massive wilder fan during the Olympics and early into his pro career. Since he's taken the Saleem/Rodriguez route many have become critical. People just wanna know what he's got! Nothing wrong with that.

There's only one man who makes sense, least in my mind, and that is Fury.

But then again, I'd like to see Thompson in the mix as well. There needs to be more American vs American fights.

Tua is reportedly willing and able.
He's got a chin, so it could go rounds. Three or four.

Mike Sheppard seems like a good option. After all, he's a young 39; went four rounds with 45 year old former light heavyweight champ Antonio Tarver; and gave a good 10 rounds to never-was China Smith.

If they want to take a dramatic step up in class, he could throw down the gauntlet against someone like Eric Molina.

Maybe Wlad should hire Wilder to fight Briggs for him :)

Could you really argue that? Wilder won a bronze medal for the U.S. in the Olympics. China Smith was only barely known by hardcore boxing fans because he had a hyped up record and an odd name. He was less well-publicized than the ridiculous Team Cannon group.

Don't think Briggs would take it. The outcome would be the same but Briggs would be taking a big paycut to fight a contender instead of a champion.
Briggs want to cash out on his career and Wlad is the way to go.

IIRC China Smith had 18-19 amateur bouts and Wilder had, at most, 30. People who pump up that medal do so at risk of not understanding Olympic boxing. He tied for third after defeating boxers from Morocco and Algeria, then almost got shut out by Clemente Russo. He got a good draw and didn't get screwed by the scoring pads like Andrade did. I guess China Smith never got to this level as a can crusher, but he was a regional draw and won some stupid belts.

you created a strawman by lumping those guys together. of course there are america haters who criticize BHOP, mayweather and other american legends just because they are american.

however wilder is not like floyd mayweather, he has indeed fought nobody at almost age 29. that can change soon of course but to date wilder has proven absolutely nothing. of course that is nothing specifically american many euro fighters have padded records too but it is a fact that wilder has bum fought himself into a title fight.

of course you can argue that scott is a solid fighter but scott just came from a shameful quit job loss against chisora (and the wilder fight did not look any more motivated).

I'm not saying wilder is a bum, some guys with padded records have proven themselves as the real deal (the klits themselves have been heavily bum-fed in their first 20 fights or so) but don't be shocked if he loses because he steps into title fights with no real preparation whatsover.

some do master that jump but certainly his build up was less than ideal when it comes to being prepared for the top.

I would be really happy seeing Wilder fight Briggs, since Briggs is so ridiculously durable, but Briggs is all wrong for Wilder. Wilder's camp has been avoiding durable fighters and fighters with risky power. Briggs is so durable and game, you could beat him with a baseball bat all night long and he would neither go down nor contemplate surrendering.

Briggs can take punishment no doubt. But he has been knocked down 4 times in his career
so anything is possible.

Briggs is tough for sure, but he has atrocious defense. The ref should have stopped his fight with Vitali, who lacked the pop to put him away but was landing at will. The one thing we know Wilder does have is power in his right hand - I'd be shocked if he didn't stop Briggs.
