Graham, do you mind sharing who you're leaning toward at this point regarding Kovalev-Hopkins? Off topic obviously, but I'm very eager to see what happens in that fight and I'm always interested in your thoughts.

Here is a pretty good short article on Buffer from BBC Sport. talks about how he got into announcing etc... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/27517733

He has been a great announcer but you have to wonder at almost 70 yrs old how long he will go on. I hope for a long time yet but in the mean time... Im going to be working hard to give him a run for his money on the ring announcing side of things! :-)

Doesn't Buffer's Brother do the UFC? He almost has a heart attack when announcing the fighters. He jumps to one side and waves one arm whilst screaming "FIGHTING". Very animated indeed.

He flys round the world first class for a few minutes work, it's hardly hod carrying.

I've seen that, looks absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. I like Michael Buffer but to me his brother just acts like a screaming buffoon, doesn't do it for me

The BBC wanted to call their new show (featuring your hero Carl Froch) Let's Get Ready to Tumble but they had to reduce it to tumble for complex legal reasons. Apparently it's down to Buffer's people.

Seems a bit strange and harsh but it does appear that the phrase is worth a mint to him!

It all comes down to trademark and IP rights. He owns the phrase Lets Get Ready To Rumble and as such anyone who wants to use this phrase to promote anything has to pay Buffer Enterprises a royalty. This also extends to "like phrases" in certain areas. He has made a good living from trademark licensing and if EH wanted to use it he would have had to pay.

I own my catchphrase "Its Go Time" and have enjoyed some of the same type of royalty income. Trademark law is interesting to say the least and certainly provides opportunity for additional license income if leveraged correctly.
