Since this he has said that he will go back to Jim Mcdonnell , i'm not sure that is the right move for him, i'm not doubting McDonnells ability, but i think for Williams he needs a different person pushing him to get into shape for the Skelton fight.
If he does get into a decent condition, than i pick Williams to win. By the 5th round.
If he comes into the ring in the same shape as he did against Harrison, than Skelton will wear him down inside of 8 rounds.
What the fornicate? So he fires McDonnell, trains himself, comes in at 19 stone whatever, then decides to rehire McDonnell...what is that all about?

Either he is happy with McDonnell or he isn't, which is it?

It doesn't matter about the whys and wherefores, don't be surprised to see the winner of this fight get a shot at Lamon Brewster.
Williams will get pasted by anyone resembling world class, the Tyson he beat was beyond shot. McBride subsequently beat him say no more! And I'm not buying into this theory that Tyson was much different in either bout. The suggestion that Tyson was almost back to his old self in the first couple of rounds against Williams always has me chuckling. One punch from anything like the old Tyson would have Williams out for about 5 minutes! Williams' level was shown when he lost to Samil Sam who has fallen short of the top level himself, forget Williams' shingles excuse he comes out with something different every time he gets beaten.
You are missing the point, having Tyson on his CV, gives him a leg up in the ratings. Audley Harrison was rated in the top 15 by the IBF and WBA also, so Danny will have probably leapt into the top 10-15 next time the ratings come around, which means he would be eligible as a non mandatory title challenger.....if Skelton beats him, then he probably gets in the top 15 too.
CORRECTAMUNDO! Agreed with also...

Even with McDonnell on board Williams has not been in decent shape or condition for a long time so I dont expect him to come into the Skelton fight any better than he did against Harrison. Skelton will overwhelm him.

Bearing in mind that King prefers Skelton over Williams, I suppose that means that Danny needs to knock Skelton out :-? .

He didn't fire him, he just told him he wanted to go it alone for the Harrison fight, as a sort of test. God knows what he was thinking, but that pizza reigime is just not working.

Sorry if I've missed it but does this mean Harrison Vs Guzman is at the Excel or is Frank doing two shows on the same night?

Also any chance of Audley vs Herbie Hide on the undercard :D

Depends if Danny can get himself in shape if so he beats Skelton if not Skelton wins.

He got himself a little lighter at 18stone 13 on the Hatton undercard so so could get himself to there by February and even lighter.

About Skelton winning the Lonsdale outright shouldn't he have won it outright because Mc Dermott was his 3rd defence of it after Sprott, Long and Krence?

Why are they putting this on a separate show? Why not throw it with Scott Harrison's defence with GUzman to make it a good card.

Yes, but its a newish rule that amongst those defences you must face a mandatory. He hasn't yet, and it is unclear if Williams will be - he was before facing a suspension, but Gammar won the eliminator. Scott Dann faced some opponent problems for this reason when the Elcock fight collapsed (before being re-arranged).

I thought though that a fighter wasn't allowed to make a 3rd British title defense if he hadn't made his mandatory.... obviously not.

The only way that Williams is going to lose the weight , is to bring a nutritionist on board, it seems to me that no matter how hard Williams trains , if he's allowed to eat what he wants then he will always be overweight

Although this is a fight we all wont to see, you have to feel somewhat sorry for Gammer as he was due to fight Mcdermot (eleminator) and stood aside in order for the Skelton fight and now his title shot has been cancelled.....

LeBanner did KO skelton with punches i have the fight on my hard drive (i'll try to upload it when i have time) but as knockout said LeBanner is a massive puncher and had a brief pro career himself (3-0 (2)). One guy who did shake Skelton was the lump that they call Bob Mirovic who can bang but ain't much cop, so he can be hurt.
I would love to see that fight (Le Banner V Skelton). I was looking for it for a long time but could never get it...
Would greatly appreciate it if you could upload it somewhere when you have chance.
I'll second that :TU: :TU:

King prefers Skelton to Williams

Promoter Don King has played down Danny Williams' hopes of a world title shot but backed British heavyweight champion Matt Skelton to shine in the USA.
King was underwhelmed by Williams' win over Audley Harrison last weekend.
"I don't think the win can equate to Williams being in the top five or six heavyweights in the world," said King.
"But I think Matt Skelton is a great prospect so we will see what we can do with him. [Skelton's promoter] allegedly and I can work together well."

King was at ringside in Berlin to see seven-foot Russian giant Nikolay Valuev dethrone WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz.

And he has been talking about organising a mega tournament between the four major title holders to revive interest in the top division.

But he does not see Williams as a key player at the weight.
"Williams holds a victory over Mike Tyson but Tyson had diminished quite a bit," said King.
"He won the fight with Audley, but Harrison was not a top heavyweight. He just had a big name in England because he had won at the Olympics."

to be fair i think he does the cardio......
He just consumes far more calories than he burns... which must be quite difficult.....

Skelton and Williams both need to be 250 for this to be a good one

What is worse is that he is getting heavier and heavier, if you were to plot a graph of his weight over the years, you see the general trend is towards getting fatter and fatter. The last time he came in really good shape was for the long fight.

I remember thinking how he was to heavy for the Sam fight. Even that weight is now a distant memory for Danny.

I really cannot see Williams coming in anywhere near a decent weight, even though he came in in awful shape versus Harrison he still won and one wonders if he excuses his poor condition with the fact he is still getting the results. Of course he needs to be slimmer but will he realise this and come in light against Skelton? I would be very surprised. Skelton TKO9 Williams for me.

His last decent performance aswell, I was really impressed with him the night he fought Long. He was pretty good vs Tyson - but he looked very slow and clumbsy untill Tyson ran out of gas. Plus, Tyson is tailor made for a fighter who is lazy as he does all the work - Williams didn't have to chase anyone. This will happen of course vs Skelton, but Skelton won't gas out after 3 rounds.
