Porter looks top heavy but those wild lunging hooks were dangerous and that is what Brook needs to counter. If Porter lunges misses and is hit Brook stops him.

Not in a million years would Brook make 140lbs - Picture from a previous camp and this was weeks out before the fight.

Brook wins via mid-late stoppage and I am lumping cash on him
You are basing your 'not in a million years' on a photo? Ok, so here's a few questions: what weight was he there, how long had he been in camp for, how strict had he been with his diet, what was his diet at the time (pro, cho, fat breakdown will do), was he depleted, how long was his training session, was it am or pm training session, what training day was it (hi, mod, lo), was he using creatine, how much fluid was he on per day, what supplements was he using?

A picture tells you nothing really, unless you have all of the data i've outlined. Then you can make a very educated guess as to what weight he COULD make. Kell Brook could make 140lb.

hahaha. so you think brook has any easy night with porter and an easier one with thurman, think you should mooch on down to your local bookies because i think you would get some pretty good odds on that.

He could probably get to 135 if he didn't eat solids for 3 weeks, he could make 140 but would not be as effective at the weight as others who do not have to diet for 16 weeks. If Brook could make 140 and be a 12 round high class fighter then he would do it. It seems that training to make the weight has been an issue, it'd be better if most of the training was toward improving skills and developing game plans. Porter looks very strong at the weight, it'll be a good bout, both can crack but Porter does get in there and is willing to take chances.

Loads of assumptions there, i mean it's not a weight making contest, it's a performance sport after all, which all of my comments were made considering.

It really comes down to how you define 'could' though. Physiologically he could, mentally though he probably couldn't.

An interesting indicator is to look at % weight increase on fight night differences across the weights. I see people on here saying he couldn't make 140, all based on very little other than a photo and some press stuff. Not really credible to LOL at someone based on that alone. I'd bet everything i own on the fact he could make 140.

Agree Porter looks strong at the weight, though Brook has it in him to blast him out of there if he can time Porter all night long. Stamina and preparation decide this one.

Porter recently said he wouldn't be rushing in like he did with Malagnagi, so that means he must respect Brook's power. He plans to box, use his footwork, and speed. Should be a good fight. Porter has the advantage if he chooses to get inside. Both are decent outside. Porter by UD imo.

If you read my posts you'll see im far from a huge Brook fan so it's nothing like that. I say purely from a stylistic standpoint that Brook would deal better with Thurman than he probably will with Porter. Thurman likes to stand off and box more like Brook does whereas Porter has a rough house aggressive style which will probably give Brook more problems which tends to be the case with 'boxers'.

Porter plans to try and outbox Brook?

Here is what he said, exactly: (Ben Thompson article)
"We're going to go out there, we're going to do everything the way we always do it. We're going to box, use our speed, our power, our quickness, everything that we have, and keep in mind that he is a good fighter and we won't be rushing in, we won't be getting out of control," Porter explained. "Every fight isn't going to be Shawn Porter coming in and knocking you out. Some fights I'm going to have to box, I'm going to have to use my feet and my hand speed. Other fights I can walk in, be a little more dangerous, and throw some really hard shots and walk guys down; it all depends. With this fight, I'm not going to say too much over the air, but we do understand that we have to come in there locked and loaded and ready to fight."

Porter will try and rough Brook up and turn it messy, he'll bang the body and put it to Brook late. I've only seen Porter late once, v Alexander but he had a lot of energy left and was still strong. I'm not convinced Brook is half as strong late on as he is early, he will be very dangerous the first 4 rounds though.

I see Porter winning this fight. Brook will definitely give him a tough night by boxing in angles from the outside, but that won't be enough, and Porter will continue cutting his space, and pound him whenever they are close. Oh how I love to throw Bradley's name in the mix after this bout.. Brook-Bradley & Porter-Bradley seems a top level match-up.

Kell can only make 147lb if he trains and eats properly for a whole camp.
In the second Jones fight when he adapted his training to allow a foot injury to heal he could not get down to 147lb due to the lack of running and sparring I think the fight was at 152lb.
No way he makes 140lb even if you put him in a sweat suit on a treadmill in a sauna till he passed out.

Brook is more than a match for Porter in every department and regardless of game plans this will come down to who hits harder and who can man it out.
Porter has not been in with anyone as dangerous as Brook and vice versa.
Someone leaves that ring a broken man which is a shame as they both seem good guys.
It's a fantastic fight and if you can honestly pick one man over the other based on their previous fights your not being honest about the level of the opposition IMO

I think Brook will win if your coming in wild to pound that's easy when nothings coming back of any consequence ie Alexander and Paulie .
Kell hits hard and accurately and will counter everything levelled at him.
Bradley will have to wait for Khan to get his if Brook wins that's a nailed on super fight over here.

i see it the other way round, brook should want porter to come right at him, a good boxer likes someone that they dont have to go looking for, whereas two boxers that stand of it's all about faints and waiting for a mistake. i think he's not a bad fighter brook but i cant see him beating either although you never know with them ingle fighters. . porter v thurman that looks a good fight to me and a tougher one to pick.

True but im sure you saw the Carson Jones fight? Thats partly why I feel Porters style might cause Brook some problems.

i agree wholeheartedly with you, i think porters style is going to give brook a whole bunch of problems, to be honest i've not seen a lot of porter but he looks strong and he just marched through paulie, it was pretty impressive.

IMO, Alexander is a superior boxer to Brook. Brook probably hits a bit harder, though. But the way Porter can mix it up, I feel he will keep Brook guessing throughout the fight and win a wide UD.

I'm at a music festival the night of this fight. Having followed Kell Brook his whole career & been waiting for his moment to shine on the global stage, it's fair to say I'm slightly gutted.

Unless one of them suddenly shows a whole new level they look about even to me. Porter has the more experience and this makes me think he has the advantage. He just has more to draw on.

Do you? I do and he cannot make 140 and perform. Yes he can make 140 anyone can but to be at his peak performance weight its 147lbs.

Remember also between weigh in and the following morning you cannot put more than 10lbs on too.

Him winning convincingly is actually a fairly common prediction, though admittedly it would shock some people.
