What I hate about Wilder...

Post by Kaaspeer »

The guy is big, black, strong, American, 100% KO streak, he got the traits of an ATG, but it's as if he is scared to fight anyone with a pulse and it is as if all the other boxers in the division are scared to fight him, even though he's also scared of them, why does no one try and make a fight with him? And why doesn't he himself try to make a fight with someone? The guy is so annoying, I could imagine him smashing an aging Wladimir, but Wilder won't take that fight and Wladimir won't take that, both are scared.

As for people who say "he should prove himself before someone fights him!". No, he shouldn't, beating Wilder is a far more convincing win for Wladimir than beating fat Europeans like Povetkin and Pulev all the time, why not fight a big and powerful American with a 30-0 100% KO record, that would certainly look more impressive than any other option at heavyweight and it would be the biggest money fight in heavyweight possible. Wrong or right, look at polls, Wilder is widely regarded as Wladimir's biggest threat, so this fight would please the fans.

But Wilder got problems with his self esteem and the other boxers in the division don't want to be the first elite guy to risk a wrong move against this intimidating power boxer...

Except that both guys you mentioned are more accomplished than and in all likelihood would defeat Wilder.

I don't believe that they would beat Wilder, I don't even think they would go to distance. They have proven more in the ring than Wilder has, but Wilder has the appearance, record and hype to be the best obvious fight for any heavyweight right now. And again, THE POLLS SPEAKS. Wilder is hyped up to be Wladimir's biggest threat, so let's get it on, the more exciting a fight is perceived to be, the more money it makes. Wilder is the best option for Wladimir and the only heavyweight that it would be exciting to see Wladimir up against.

Anyone with a brain and even a speck of boxing knowledge should be able to make a reasonable assessment as to why Wilder's people have matched him so softly.

He is still hyped to be Wladimir's biggest threat. Hype = excitement = money.

Would you really rather watch Wladimir fight anyone else more than you would watch him fight Wilder? At least Wilder has a puncher's chance. And it would look good on Wladimir's record with a victory against an undefeated American KO monster.

I don't want to watch Wladimir beat fat Italians, Bulgarians, Russians and whatever anymore, I want to see him against an all new kind of opponent: A black American guy at his own size, with a 100% KO record. It's boring with the same kind of opponents all the time.

Povetkin has been down, what, 4 times over his entire pro and amateur career? Pulev tripped against Abell, I don't think he's been down much if at all. Who has Wilder beaten to make you think he can stop either one? Sure, he's got power, but how does it (with his skilkset) carry over to a real live opponent? We've yet to see. And apparently he's fighting Mike Shepherd next. If he was confident of beating Povetkin, why wouldn't he do it in Moscow? Make a lot more money than he will steamrolling Mike Shepherd.

Samuel Peter also had a puncher's chance. How did that turn out? Wilder is no match for Wladimir, but yeah I'd still like to see him get KO'd.

And what does bringing up his race have to do with anything? Wladimir has beaten lots of black heavyweights. Wilder isn't anything different.

Wilder lacks faith in his own abilities, please read the OP before answering to a thread. He is scared of Povetkin. But Povetkin would never get anywhere near Wilder neither, trust me. Wilder is a walking sack of gold, but everyone is scared to grab the gold and the sack itself is also scared.

Anyway, the Wilder doubters should be happy to finally see Wilder get exposed and to shut up Scott Gilfoid, so why the f*ck be so negative about this fight?

And yet he fought Wlad who is a much harder challenge. So he's fought the best, why should I trust he wouldn't fight Wilder?

Povetkin is not afraid of anybody. If good money is on the table, he will fight the best to say nothing of Wilder.

Because Wladimir is the champ, Povetkin is forced to fight him if he wants to go anywhere with his career. Obvious, why do you even ask? Think before disagreeing.

A pro isn't forced to fight anyone. Obvious, why would you even say that?

That's made clear by Deontays lack of competent opposition.

Wladimir holds the belts, how would Povetkin get the belts without fighting him? He can't use the Russian mafia there, obvious. Why even ask?

You do know he already had a belt, right? He could have just sat on it and made money. But he CHOSE to fight the best.

Tell me why no one wants to fight Wilder. And don't say "he hasn't proven himself", that should just make them want to fight him even more. Why do no one try to make a fight against him?

Wilder is a pussy, we both know that, but why doesn't Wladimir or Povetkin or anyone else try to make a fight against him? Don't they want the money? Don't they want to shut up the hype? Don't they want to participate in what will 100% be the most watched heavyweight fight in many years?

Povetkin and Pulev would kick Wilder's a$$.

Maybe, maybe not. Why aren't they showing any interest in trying? Wilder doesn't show any interest in fighting them because he's a pussy, what's Povetkin and Pulev's excuses? Wilder is a fanpleasing opponent for any top HW to fight, the polls speaks for themselves on this. And he would bring in huge money for the fight.

Who exactly doesn't want to fight him? Wlad has a mandatory against a better fighter (Pulev). Wilder wouldnt accept the Chisora fight and iirc he didn't answer Furys initial challenge and waited to call Fury out until Tyson was set to fight Pulev or Haye.

Wilder is fighting for a belt sometime this year. If he wins that fight, it makes a fight against wlad that much bigger. He isn't going to risk all of that.

A lot of the problems with fighters taking soft touches comes from Haymon. It's very frustrating. Look at what happened to Gary Russell Jr when he stepped up. Look who Garcia and Peterson are fighting this week. You could make a case that the Haymon philosophy is harming Wilders career. This is a fighter who has never headlined a show yet and will probably be fighting off tv or on the Showtime Extreme undercard despite the fact that he is heading toward a title shot in his next bout.

People need to understand that the fighter only agrees to fight who their management team puts in front of them. Also, a lot of fighters ask for certain fighters but sometimes the other fighter doesn't agree, wants to much money, or their management team doesn't want them to risk their cash cow.

Why do you think his management is putting such soft opposition in front of him though? You mention they're risk averse, but why so many Mike Sheppard types?

To me it suggests a lack of faith in his ability and especially his chin given the dearth of punchers he's fought.
