How bad would GGG bust up Cotto or Canelo?

Post by birdman77 »

Disclaimer: not a GGG fan, but can see how dangerous he is in certain matchups. Cotto don't need a beating worse than Margs or Pacman delivered at this point in his career. Think he waited too long to get Roach. He beat Sergio badly but GGG is in much better physical shape right now than Martinez. It would be a brutal stoppage IMO

Next we have Canelo. Good fighter, young, good body puncher, stamina issues. Average team of trainers IMO.
If Trout and Floyd could back him up at times--and they did--what tactic would he employ vs GGG? Hit & move? Trade in center? Get GGG on ropes & work the body? None of those sound safe AT ALL.

I wished we'd see the top true 160 guys go at it. Or 3G challenge some SMW guys. Again, his style is good against certain opponents. How'd his power hold up at SMW? I only started post bc Gennady is most active MW in world right now--and has no opponents that are a threat lined up. And he'll be mid-30s very soon

I believe Roach is well aware of what G brings to the table and will not allow his guy to face him. I love Cotto, but he does not do well with effective pressure. Especially the type that Golovkin would bring.

Canelo would be interesting just because I haven't seen him matched yet in power. I'd take G, but you never know.

It's easy to bust Cotto up. Any pressure on his face and it starts swelling and cutting and bruising. GGG wouldn't "bust up" Alvarez. That fight would go the distance, and Alvarez would exit it without a mark on him. Alvarez his pretty good at avoiding punches. That's like the main thing he does.

Mayweather and Lara showed how limited Canelo is. Without advantage in power, there isn't much he can offer. His only hope is some kind of cut and judges giving him undeserved win.

He would bust them both up very badly, he is very powerful, well balanced, insistent and is intent on landing hard punches. He'd beat both of them inside the distance, he really does look a very good boxer.

Golovkin would put a brutal beating on Canelo.
