Burns vs Mitchell 2 if it occured

Post by lefty »

How would you see it going? Would Burns win in the same kind of manner or is Ricky past his best as he's looked lately and would Mitchell get the victory in the return?

Good question. I'd say Mitchell wins the rematch, Burns doesn't look half the fighter he was.

Burns has looked pretty rubbish recently, but Mitchell hasn't looked great either against far inferior competition.

I'd pick Burns to win again.

Same result as last time. Burns is vulnerable now but Mitchell always has been vulnerable. Treading water looking for a big final payday World Title fight.

No idea. Burns might well have Mitchells number but this fight would be a step down for Kevin at the moment, if you know what I mean.

But as much as I'd love to see it I can't see Mitchell beating any of the champions at Lightweight.

Which is sad because he supports the best team in England :TU:

Burns smashed him before if we are being honest. Great chance he would smash him again, despite how he has tailed off recently.

kevin looking to fight for a world title or a world level oppoenent, burns lost his last couple at world level, then at europeon level, so am guessing hes saying fighting burns would be a step down as rickys moved down levels recently

It would be impossible to pick against Burns after the first fight.

Mitchell just won a final eliminator (although the next day weight thing didn't help) whereas Burns hasn't won his last three.

Kevin is looking at fighting for a title whereas Ricky is looking at just getting a win.

In career terms right now, a Burns fight is a step back for Mitchell.

I'm not so sure Burns beats Mitchell again,Ricky just doesnt seem to have it anymore, even though he's been fighting at a higher class,he just looks so flat, ever since the Mitchell fight,he stopped Kevin fair and square and maybe just has his number when it comes to power but if a rematch was to go rounds i'd back Kevin to outpoint him

Well I'd consider Burns to be a big step up for Mitchell and I'd expect him to lose again.

Burns has lost his mojo. I'd pick Mitchell in the rematch.

I picked Mitchell to win in the first. I thought he was technically better fighter and was surprised by the result. I'll certainly pick Mitchell now.

Watch Ricky bounce back in Leeds, he's still easily the best LW in the UK
Doesn't need matched against 5ft 4" southpaw midgets

Don't forget Mitchell was losing his last fight until he pulled it out of the bag. Burns beats him 10 times out of 20.

The mitchell fight is the last time Burns has taken the fight to somebody, it would be interesting to see wether he would be able to take that approach again, or whether he would let Kevin control proceedings.

Both have mental frailties, Ricky's fairly recent (lack of confidence or fear?) and Kevin much longer term (nerves, commitment or something else) if the 2 of them were to fight i think it would probably end the career of the loser.

How would you see a bout with Terry Flanagan and Ricky pan out mate? Have they sparred in your gym in the past? Obviously Ricky has much more experience but struggles with southpaws, Terry seems talented and it seems that some of the British lightweights don't fancy him. It would be a good win for Ricky if the fight happened, he becomes British Champion and would exercise demons of boxing against southpaws!
