Close fight. Surprised by how well Rossy did.

Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
Glazkov defiantly won the fight, but that was a bad performance by Glazkov, the fact that he beat Adamek that easy says that Galzkov is a better fighter then what we saw in him today, so I hope he comes out ready next time he comes to fight.

I predict Wlad will be trying to make a fight with Glazkov if he becomes IBF mandatory after Pulev.

Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
Glazkov is a bad fighter, Scott dominated him (Glazkov got gifted a draw) and his best win is a shot Adamek who had just gotten a gift decision against Steve Cunningham... Wladimir should definetely fight either Fury or Wilder before even considering this guy.
Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
glazkov had really good skills as an amateur but he is lacking something as a pro. he has solid technique but lacking the punch and physical strength to be a top guy.
Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
VG would've been the perfect 'credible' opponent for Wilder.
If you take his performances as a whole this fits in fairly well with them, as he's generally been unimpressive and even Garrett Wilson gave him a competitive fight just after being outclassed at CW by Alekseev. The win over Adamek obscured VG's demonstrated limitations for a bit, but this fight highlighted them again.

Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
Classic example of Glaskov does everything well but nothing great. Wlad has great power and now great defense. Ali had great hand and foot spped. Foreman/Tyson great power.dominik wrote:glazkov had really good skills as an amateur but he is lacking something as a pro. he has solid technique but lacking the punch and physical strength to be a top guy.
Glaskov does everything real nicely but I don't rate any of his skills a 10.

Glazkov is a good boxer, but he doesn't have enough power to succeed at HW.

Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
These newer guys just aren't very good. All of the fools saying "well the new HW class is going to revive the division" and listing Glazkov, Wilder, Jennings, Perez, and then a bunch of prospects who haven't fought anyone. Wilder won't fight anyone with a pulse; Jennings and Perez just look atrocious; Glazkov looked horrible (and how anyone could have rated him highly after his git draw vs Scott is beyond me) . . .Parker mark my words will follow suit when he's done fighting 50 year Frans Bothas.
I remember people saying the same thing over 10 years ago that Boytsov, Povetkin, Dimitrenko, Bidenko, Ibragimov, Chagaev etc. were going to be an Eastern-Euro HW wave that would usher in a new golden age.
What happened? . . they all became colossal disappointments (given the hype), with the best of the lot managing unimpressive brief paper belt spells (Ibragimov, Chagaev, Povetkin) and the others not even making it past continental European level. And that lot had much more impressive Amateur pedigrees overall than the newer class, which has a lot more guys who started boxing late.
Just face it, the HW division has sucked for awhile and is just getting worse. Stop trying to put lipstick on a pig.

I think you could say that about any era. it has always been the case that most prospects don't pan out. Some eras are of course richer than others. What era do you think was so much better? Some say the 1970s were a golden era. But there were only 4 great HWs from the 1970s: Ali, Foreman, Frazier, and Norton. Holmes was coming up. But Lyle, Shavers, Bobick, Young, Bugner, Bodell, either didn't make it at all, or weren't very good for very long.
The Dempsey era had Jack, Gene Tunney, and maybe Greb.
Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
As a heavy fan very disappointed with glazkov. I think he is type fighter can have bad day or struggles vs certain styles eg Scott etc. maybe he will get better in next match. I can see him being matched vs Cunningham in their next fight.
As for prospects I m left disappointed eith Seth Mitchell , arreola, Johnson , Scott , chambers ,joe hanks, tracks Kaufman,
And soon to be wilder/Jennings

Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
Thought Glazkov lost first 5 rds. Draw best case for him. People feel like he won because he closed very strong. Deceiving.

Glazkov lost rounds 2-4. 1,5,6 were very close. Glazkov won 7-10.diddy wrote:Thought Glazkov lost first 5 rds. Draw best case for him. People feel like he won because he closed very strong. Deceiving.
Re: Uh Glazkov WTF
Some people didn't want to move Jennings above Adamek in the rankings. I've been saying, Adamek is that far past-it. Adamek only beat Chambers due to injury, robbed Cunningham, lost to Glazkov, and Glazkov isn't looking so great himself.

Um...well yeah, that's what a mandatory is!marvelous marv wrote:I predict Wlad will be trying to make a fight with Glazkov if he becomes IBF mandatory after Pulev.
As to the fight, I saw it and Rossy fought very hard and gutsy. That outlying card of 8-2 Glazkov was insane. The fight was probably a draw.
FWIW, Glazkov said after the fight he had an injured hand and the commentators mentioned that there is a lot of fighting going on in his home town and that he hasn't heard from his parents for two weeks...that's gotta have some kind of effect on his psyche. Also, his first fight with a new trainer. Lots of possible reasons why the fight went as it did...another possible reason is that Glazkov might suck! Regardless, he needs to be more aggressive.

Champagne post. I'm on my feet applauding. The legions of people saying the division sucks have been met by resistance from the 'It's not as bad as it looks' crowds. Well, it is. The division sucks exactly as bad as it looks, and has done for almost a decade.dempseyfire wrote:These newer guys just aren't very good. yes. another good Amateur who seems to not be able to succeed in the pros. in the Ams you can win like that but in the pros you Need other Qualities.Tony1244 wrote:Classic example of Glaskov does everything well but nothing great. OK, Ali, Frazier, Foreman and Norton. Who exactly are the 4 great HWs now? And where is the next Holmes coming from? I hate to say it, but Lyle, Shavers, Young, Bugner, Bonavena and Quarry would be rated 2-7 if they were fighting now, and on a good day some would have a chance of knocking off the the current version of Wlad. Even a fringe guy like Middleton was better than many of the current top 10.Tony1244 wrote:What era do you think was so much better? Some say the 1970s were a golden era. Yup, like I said some eras are richer than others and the 1970s certainly had richer talent than they there is now. There is only one great HW now. This era today is quite weak, but so was the 1950s excepting Marciano, and the 1940s excepting Joe Louis, Walcott and Charles.
