Would you except Peterson-Garcia at a catch weight between 140-147. I don't believe Garcia can make 140 anymore.

accept not except

If 140 can't be agreed it should be at 147. But was Garcia fighting at a catch weight as the fight wasn't sanctioned for a title or because he couldn't make 140?

In an interview after the Salka fight. He spoke on making the fight but maybe not at 140.

I care less & less where guys fight weight-wise. I care less & less about titles. I just wanna see good fights & this is probably the best fight to make @ 140 so I can't believe it drops down all that much if it takes place @ 143-144 or even 147 or isn't for a title.

Well said Reggie. Weights mean nothing nowadays. There are far too many. Titles mean nothing nowadays. There are far too many.

We need to move on. If Exciting Fighter A & Exciting Fighter B want to fight at 152 then go for it. I don't care about the weight division or the IBWBCAO crap that infests our sport.

The Alphabet Criminals are like the political parties. They meant something once but ain't truly relevant anymore.

I'd like to see Garcia Peterson at whatever weight both are comfortable at.

I think purse values and PPV buys are the new titles. ABC Interpacific champ means nothing, most PPV since . . . . . . means alot more to the fighters at the top.

Me as a fan, I just want to see good scraps with or without titles, gate receipts or ppv buys etc. just want to see good honest fights.

I would much rather see Garcia rematch Matthysse. Doubt if Garcia will want that fight though.

I would accept it in the sense that I would watch it, but I'd prefer it be at a real weight class limit. Garcia vs Peterson should definitely be a championship fight, and world titles shouldn't be contested for at catchweights IMO.
In the end, it's really about making the fight and I'd be happy to see it made anywhere between 140-47, since catchweight title fights are becoming the norm anyway.

My personal opinion that would to see Matthysee-Garcia believe the first fight was fluke or don't like Garcia. Garcia cleanly beat Herrera deserve a rematch much more than Lucas.

I thought both were close enough fights to warrant a rematch. I think Garcia beat Matthysse narrowly but cleanly, but it would have been a little different if the ref didn't allow Garcia to hold so much. Matthysse's fault though, he needs to fight out of clinches.

Herrera I thought narrowly but cleanly beat Garcia. He won't give that rematch again either.

Garcia clearly beat LM but I thought it was close enough that a rematch wouldn't be inappropriate.

I also don't think the result was a fluke nor do I dislike Garcia.

Although I do agree with this, on this occasion I fail to see the need for a catch weight when both guys already fight and hold titles in the same division.

If they fight at a catch-weight above 140, they should vacate their belts. To fight at 143, 144, etc just doesn't make any sense. Peterson can always rematch Matthysse for a good fight at 140. If Garcia wants to go to 147, he should go there and fight somebody....hopefully with a pulse this time. He received a ton of crap for his last opponent, and he deserved it.
