Kell Brook Vs. Shawn Porter free to view on SKY!

Post by chad »

On the 16th August all SKY Sports channels are free to view for SKY and Virgin Media customers from 6am through to 6am the following morning.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... ugust-16th

"There's plenty of world class sport packed across all six Sky Sports channels. It’s the first day of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League where Arsenal take on Crystal Palace from 5.30pm, you can see all the action unfold live on Sky Sports 1 HD (Sky Channel 402) or Sky Sports 1 (Sky Channel 409)

If you're a cricket fan, to catch live coverage of the fifth Test between England and India just tune in to Sky Sports 2 HD (Sky Channel 403) or Sky Sports 2 (Sky Channel 435) and with the press of a button you'll be taken to The Oval to watch action from day two.

Other great events on Sky Sports 1 and 1HD include live football from the Sky Bet Championship with Leeds taking on Middlesbrough (1215pm), and Live Fight Night."

Spread the word to those you know who love boxing, but can't afford SKY Sports.

Probably will have to watch it live. Recording it and trying to watch it at 9am with a bowl of cornflakes won't work I imagine.

You're right. Anything recorded during the free period, by those who don't subscribe to SKY Sports, won't be watchable outwith the free to view period. Essentialy if you don't subscribe to SKY Sports, you'll have to stay up to watch this live.

Isn't the ringwalk for Brook due to be around 4am? No chance I'm staying up for that, definitely a Sky Plus job for me.

I have Sky Plus but not Sky Sports - does that mean I can record on my planner?

Sadly the free to air period only runs from 6am on Saturday through to 6am on the Sunday morning. Anything you record during this period has to be watched during that window. For example if you record the fight, and try to watch it at 10am on Sunday it won't playback :( Well I'm basing that on the free to air day SKY did last year. I'll see if I can get any further information however I'd say if you plan to watch the fight, best to get out your bed to watch it.

The guys on Digital Forum are discussing the free to view day here:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthre ... p=74193625

Some are suggesting you can indeed record from the free to view period and watch it later.

They're wrong then. You can record anything on Sky Sports anytime even if you don't subscribe; your box checks your card for your subscription when you view it, not when you record it. We cancelled the sports package recently and I can no longer watch recorded Sports stuff from when we did subscribe, whether I've watched it already or not.

I wonder if you record a bunch of shows beforehand, say on the Thursday beforehand.... Would you then be able to play it back from 6pm onwards on the Saturday?

Just had confirmation it doesn't apply to SKY Go or Virgin TV Anywhere.

Also had confirmation it's free for Talk Talk TV customers too.

Here's links from the various TV providers on how to enjoy all the action this Saturday on SKY Sports.

Virgin Media:

Talk Talk:

SKY:

I'm surprised Eddie Hearn hasn't been pushing the fact this fight is free to watch.
