Brook vs Porter - the Result !!

Post by TopGun »

Who wins this one then? I'm staying up to watch it which means I will be in no fit state on Sunday.

I really hope Kell doesn't lose his bottle. Hard one to call and for the first time ever I really have no opinion of the result......I'm abstaining from voting!

I think Porter stops him mid rounds, but I'd love to be proven wrong. Basing that pretty heavily on the Malignaggi outing, suggesting that was a genuine improvement from Porter rather than simply a above par performance against a light hitter. If Kell stings him early he's in with a great shout, I juts hope he doesn't get caught like a rabbit in the headlights on the big stage.

Certainly hoping Kell pulls it out of the bag.

I think porters going to overwhelm brook and stop him mid-late rounds or take a fairly wide points decision.

A lot of Ingle fighters look great until they go to world class and their weaknesses come to roost. I think the fact it's the USA will also be a big factor. I haven't seen much of Porter, but I think he'll not find Brook that difficult to hit and will win

Porter can hardly be called a midget given he started out at Middleweight.

I would love to see Brook win, but I can't away from the first fight against Carson Jones where Brook struggled badly under pressure. Stoppage victory for Porter but I hope I'm wrong. I think Porter is all wrong for Kell.

Wasn't his nose broken? I guess when you are swallowing blood and can hardly breath you might struggle.

I think it's well established Brook wasn't on his game for Carson 1. That Brook would get stopped, we are all hoping the best Brook we have ever seen turns up.

His fitness lacked yeah which was magnified by the nose, but he was schooling Jones until then (which he should anyway).

Looking forward to it Mickey?

Porter is well over hyped can he beat Brook? Yes, without a doubt. But just remember Paulie's punch resistance had gone and big punching Shawn couldn’t stop Diaz (twice) when Thurman blown him away. I don’t think Porter is the devastating puncher we think he is. I suppose time will tell..

Porter may be overrated as a puncher, but on what basis was Paulie's punch resistance gone :??

Saying that it was gone because he was stopped by Porter isn't a good argument.

Ive been saying it and posting it for years!

Brooks upright stance is going to expose him at any decent level, and this is world title about 12 levels up from anyone he has fought previous.

Cant see anything other than a brutal knock out win for Porter

I really cant make my mind up on this. Porter is getting hyped by some people to such a degree they think Brook has no chance on the other hand big step up for Brook of course from his previous 30 fights and I think he will be very competitive and win if he can keep his composure. Porter could afford to go gung-ho on Paulie because he is a light hitter (didnt see alexander vs porter), Brook will hit a lot harder and that will make Porter pause. So mostly for me its a question of Brook being able to deal with pressure and if he can yeah I think he gets a decision or a late stoppage. 50/50.

I think kel can pull this one off in style. He has the ability and the power.Kel is not like any other Ingle fighter hes not really unorthodox but I do think he could stop Porter.and thats the only way kel can win.all the best

It does worry me that Kell pulls back from punches with his chin in the air. If Porter comes under and up with a hook, he'll likely catch Brook.

I've been watching more of Porter and he is a very good fighter; good foot speed, very versatile, good head movement and varies the pace. In comparison, Brook is quite stationary and upright but is taller, fights "tall", has a great jab and is methodical and accurate. He's also most likely the harder puncher of the two.

I'm leaning towards Porter but I really hope Brook pulls it off. He'll need to hurt Porter early doors to keep him wary of jumping under and up with those dangerous hooks.

People are saying Porter had taken drugs which increased his punch power.

All the guys in the U.S are just thinking Kell struggled with Carson Jones and thats all they see.Lets not forget Jones is a strong kid coming down from lt middle and could bang a bit but Kell sucked it up and pulled through and it after watching this makes me think he has what it takes to beat Porter never mind the skillset hes going to need heart to pull this off

I can understand that and also imagine that Conte and anyone associated would be under more scrutiny; weren't there going to be random drug tests around this bout?

On another note, on the boxrec headline picture Brook looks drawn, he's a big lump for a welter.

To be fair though he's been very pro drug testing, etc, since he's got involved in boxing. It was him that was banging on about VADA and is always tweeting information about guys he thinks are on the juice, Marquez being his NO1 target it would seem. Massive Marquez fan but i'd be truely shocked if he wasnt on PED's at the moment. His whole whole composition has changed drastically since Herrera or whatever the fornicate his name is got involved.
