Brook Points - if he boxes at range

Looking at porters record apart from the win over Devon Alexander there is nothing major there that stands out
although that is better than anything on Brooks Record.

the only time ive saw Porter is against mallianaggi and i generally expect most bigger guys to beat him (although the way he did it was impressive but i would have expected Brook to stop mallianaggi if they fought,

its an intresting fight , my feeling is though if Brook wins its going to be a bit off a stinker of a fight.

if it turns into a brawl / inside fighting then most would fancy porter

Kell will be the bigger man for sure. Porter might be a little more muscle bound but height wise he's pretty damn short.

Just checked Porter is two inches smaller but has half an inch reach advantage over Brook but the head to head will tell alot though and will help me with my choice.

Those height and reach listings are pretty inaccaurate though a lot of the time. Porter is listed as being 5'7 but im sure he's more like 5'5/5'6 at the max and I really dont believe he has a reach advantage either.

Im not reading much into them either. If Brook is clearly taller than Porter than I will be picking Brook because he would use the advantage well.

Team Kell all the way a think he'll be too sharp too quick too slick. He'll bust him up for the first 6 rounds then a stoppage around 8/9 come on VIV bring the belt back home    XX

Brook by Ko for me,,

there are plenty of over rated boxers in Britain but I think Porter is over rated in American and kell wins by KO

Porter is a squat fighter who comes rolling in and under shots, so I hope Kell doesn't hang his chin out and keeps moving, picking him off and punishing him - until his face is like a busted melon.

Do we know the referee yet folks?

Could get messy and it needs a safe pair of hands to control them. I hope porter's head doesn't cause any accidental clashes or there is an inconclusive ending.

I think it is going to be a good fight - It is a good clash of styles.

Porter is nothing amazing, but he has a good engine and is surprisingly accurate with his wide punches. Brook lacks big fight experience but from what I have seen, he is the better boxer of the two.

I personally feel that Brook has to win this on the back foot with his boxing skills - Porter is very busy and has a good chin, with that in mind I don't feel Brook will be able to control the centre of the ring (which he has been kinda used to)

Basically, if Brook can adapt to the pace and pressure from Porter he will win, if he can't I suspect he'll slowly fall apart.

Anyone putting money on this fight? Brook is still 2/1 and someone is getting exposed in this fight

I was going to have a small flutter on Porter KO round 9 if the odds were 20s... but I cant find any round betting

Brook will show Porter what a real WW looks like. He will drop Porter at some point too before cruising to a points win. Just needs to make sure he has the stamina and energy.

Only way porter wins is if it's a 12 round pressure fight and i don't think he has the height/reach to make it that. He will end up eating a solid, accurate jab all night.

I'm resisting the temptation of putting a lot of money on a brook win.

I think Brook is worth an interest at 11/2 on the KO. Go for it!

according to BN Porter boxed James Degale in the amateurs. I'm not sure it said who won actually, just showed a pic. Anyone know? (not saying it's hugely relevant either way).
For 48 hours before Saturday I believed this fight was meant to be on last weekend and was telling people about it!

Stranger things have happened,i fancy Brook to beat Porter well,id be surprised if he can stop Shawn but if Kell fights to his own gameplan and does what he always does by taking control of the fight, dont stand off too long coz that could be dangerous,i hope he lets Porter feel his power early just to say he's the boss in this fight,Brook's speed could make Porter look crude,Kell's not the type to dance his way on the backfoot countering so i hope he plays to his own strengths which sadly doesnt happen when our guys go across the pond

No disrespect to fighters like Rose,Rees,Jennings,Lockett,Purdy etc who are all good fighters who were outclassed by the better man but Brook has more talent than them all and IMO is one of the most talented fighters since Naz

I just hope he does himself justice

I dont think Porter will be able to hurt Brook early. Brook will be a stronger, bigger man in the ring. Only way Porter stops him is if Brook gets tired late. I also dont think Brook can stop Porter. Porter is a spoiler type fighter, difficult to land clean. Brook can try catch him coming inside as Porter likes to jump in and can be countered. Still, the points decision is most likely. I lean slightly to Porter, but expect a very close fight and keeping fingers crossed, Brook is one of my favorites.

Degale won 23-4 and I recall hearing that while he was the clear winner the margin was too wide.

Porter fought at 165 in the amateurs and regularly faced much bigger guys, with many fighting at 168 and 160 as pros.

Thanks dude :TU:

quite a landslide that, as I say though, it means little at this point.

I've read a bit about Shawn Porter now, and what I've read I like. I'm in no rush however to write-off Kell as another soon to be busted up and dispatched British fighter sent to box on American soil. I think Kell has every chance of winning.
