IBF title will be in British hands come Sunday

Post by TJ77 »

I am supremely confident of that statement. Knowing full well its all to do and the field day some will have if its not.
I have watched and re watched Porters notable fights and how people are bowled over with this guy's power is beyond me.
Alexander took full shots over and over as well as numerous head butts ( where the cuts came from)and was still there in round 12.
He managed to spoil a spoiler fair play but aside from being slippery he did not really impress anyone on the night the crowd oo'd and rr'd to Porters dads shrieks from the corner and they said a little prayer to feign humility while the scores were added up he did enough to nick the belt from a champion who has shown how he can be beaten and doesn't fight well when his frustrated hardly the second coming.
And then people are saying ''no one's done what he did to Paulie'' with due respect to a tough guy who achieved great things WTF are people talking about he has been exposed before over and over he holds no power and as such poses no real risk for a fighter like Porter.
Paulie's timing was awful and his punch resistance is nowhere near what it was he looked shite and that flattered Porter.
Kell is there and looking genuinely cool calm and collected in great shape and more determined than ever to do the business and bring it home so for those who question his bottle I would say question answered.
I expect Porter to throw everything he has got Maidana style and he will get timed and punished all night and eventually stopped.
Yes Porter is tough and keeps coming but he is not the inside powerful genius people are making out his own dad realises the games up trust me its coming home and the doubts will eradicated by Sunday.

Malignaggi was in great form going in.

Alexander and Malignaggi wins absolutely shit over anything on Brook's record. Brook has a live chance but playing down Porter's achievements to strengthen your argument for Brook is ridiculous.

That should be the case, but there's a good number of British boxing 'fans' who really enjoy it when a British boxer loses.

Edited. Nothing wrong with predicting against a british fighter; I mean you should call it like you see it.

But to want to see a Brit lose is twattish behaviour.

we just don't know how good Brook is cause he is untested

& Porter has just had a good 12 months... I don't know how good he will become either

What if he's a really unpleasant person? Or guilty of an offensive crime? Like say, chisora hitting a woman for example? I don't see why patriotism should be the be all and end all when supporting boxers. Wlad for example, seems a really decent bloke of outstanding character. I could totally understand a Brit backing him over a herbie hide type of character they find a bit repugnant.

Not that this is a reflection of brook, I wish him luck. Hope he does the biz, but it's a big ask.

Yes of course a bad person is a bad person regardless of nationality. But to want a Brit whose a decent chap to lose against a foreigner for no good reason; well it's just not very british of said person.

Fair point, but I think we're only talking about the type of fan who pretty much always backs against the British fighter (usually so they can come on here & say 'I told you so' etc).

There's always going to be a few unpleasant British boxers who even the most patriotic of people are happy to see get beaten, luckily we don't have that many of them at the moment.

Very interesting fight this is, I've not seen enough if Porter to make a proper call, for me its 50/50 and really could go a number of different ways: Brook schools and stops Porter or wins wide UD, or Porter does the reverse to Brook. It could also turn out to be a close gruelling scrap thats touch and go for 12 rounds.

I'd like to see Brook vary his shots a lot more and not rely so much on the straight right. I think the uppercut could work well against Porter.

Contrarary to what some might think, I'm 100% behind Brook in this fight, I hope he does the business in style, I hope he proves himself special at this level and can go on to defend this belt and win more titles.

Saturday night should give a very good indication of just how good Brook really is.

I agree TJ

I have lumped some cash on him too to win and some via stoppage

Some rounds Kell is 50-60/1 which is ridiculous.

I was struck by the one-sidedness on the forum for Porter - moreso considering it's a British section.
Some people will always jump on any American puncher's bandwagon, others are a bit more reasoned. I've seen nothing yet from either side to suggest Kell can't or won't beat this guy.

Given the chat on here it was refreshing to say that Houston I believe, in the Boxing Monthly, also tips Brook to win.

I think either Porter destroys Brook and everyone will be saying Brook is a bum and shouldn't of fought them tune ups.
Or Brook destorys Porter and everyone will be saying Porter wasn't that good in the first place. Thinking of putting 500 on Brook and paying using that to put towards
Mayweather trip.

This morning I read the posts on the Brook v Porter threads then I watched in full both of Porters fights with Alexander and Paulie.I looked objectively at the shots he threw and the damage they did and decided I would put it out there this kid ain't as good on the inside or as powerful as people were making out.

I just feel that even if Kell Brook can quickly get out of range early on he'll be headed for a torrid time down the stretch, overturning any points lead he might have scraped together.

Best of luck to Brook. I hope he does it via unlikely, dramatic early KO.

People who have a SKY, Virgin Media or a Talk Talk subscription, but don't have SKY Sports, can watch all SKY Sports channels free of charge from 6am Saturday until 6am Sunday. You'll have to stay up to watch the fight live however as any recordings made during the free to air period won't playback after 6am on Sunday morning*

*People who subscribe to SKY Sports won't have this issue.
