Jamie Moore shot in both legs
Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
I just find it very difficult to believe that close as the Macklins seems to have been to the Irish-one and any relatives/mates, that they didn't know about them. Even to have heard who they were and what they were. With a 'rep' like that family's surely the word would have been out.
In which case he should have run a mile. Shows poor judgment and bad taste imho. Assuming he did know about them.

He's took the easy option by the sounds of it. Massive connections and financial backing. I doubt Macklin could have done it on his own.DMMA wrote:I just find it very difficult to believe that close as the Macklins seems to have been to the Irish-one and any relatives/mates, that they didn't know about them. Probably sucked in by the money, glamour and excitement of that kind of lifestyle.handsofstone wrote:Macklin seems a clever fella too,he should know better than to get mixed up with these types, even if he knows or has seen nothing, its easy to get caught up in it,look what happened to Jamie
Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
Your probably right , but the question is will he now see it for what it is , turn his back and walk away from it , somehow i doubt it , most would not of got involved in that lifestyle , in the first place ,columbo wrote:Probably sucked in by the money, glamour and excitement of that kind of lifestyle.handsofstone wrote:Macklin seems a clever fella too,he should know better than to get mixed up with these types, even if he knows or has seen nothing, its easy to get caught up in it,look what happened to Jamie
You may want to consider that maybee he has not just got into it , but has known and been a fringe contender for a long time , after all , i don't think you can just rock up on the door of gangsters , and say ,, Hello my names Macklin can you buy me a gym .

He is Irish, they are Irish and huge boxing fans. It's not like he was unknown to them. It could even have been their idea. Kinihan manages half the fighters who train there now.coneye wrote:Your probably right , but the question is will he now see it for what it is , turn his back and walk away from it , somehow i doubt it , most would not of got involved in that lifestyle , in the first place ,columbo wrote:Probably sucked in by the money, glamour and excitement of that kind of lifestyle.handsofstone wrote:Macklin seems a clever fella too,he should know better than to get mixed up with these types, even if he knows or has seen nothing, its easy to get caught up in it,look what happened to Jamie

Too True ,, Its definetly not uncommon for gangsters ,, bikie's ect , to hang and or be involved in the boxing scene ,not thats its a secret most know it .
But to hang out with one's, who's obviously so well known , If it was me i think i would reconsider . Cannot see this all ending with a fizzle , One would think this irish gangster fella is goig to be wondering ,, what the hell was someone doing hiding outside my house with a gun .
He might even get a bit paranoid about it .

He's probably constantly paranoid and will know exactly why they were there and their motives, hence the security. He will also most likely know who's behind it.coneye wrote:Too True ,, Its definetly not uncommon for gangsters ,, bikie's ect , to hang and or be involved in the boxing scene ,not thats its a secret most know it .

Probably , Anyway you put it though , its not a nice lifestyle , Not one i would like any way .
Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
That family and firm must have a lot of 'power' and probably reach too, even with bail, hearings etc. hovering over them. But, if it's right - as reported - that there have been fall outs with renegade Republican/ex PIRA types then he'll probably be as vulnerable as any of his enemies are.coneye wrote:Too True ,, Its definetly not uncommon for gangsters ,, bikie's ect , to hang and or be involved in the boxing scene ,not thats its a secret most know it .

Maybe they could do the world a favour and all wipe each other out. We could hire a stadium and sell tickets (I'm going for a box with prawn sarnies, and bullet proof glass), could get Luxembourg to sanction it.
Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
That's the thing that really concerns me. How in hell some of them got caught up with him without checking and knowing at least enough to scarper gets me. Even if not, with what's out there now they could not not know, unless they were the most blind and lazy followers of news, news relating to them.mickey1975 wrote: Kinihan manages half the fighters who train there now.
I wonder if (hope that) the BBBC are doing some digging on this and either force fighters who want to work here and under their license to ditch him or, frankly, ban them, harsh but fair?
Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
It would be unfair to ban the fighters, however the simple solution for the board is to revoke or suspend the licenses of those connected to the running of the gym, Kinahan, Seamus and Matthew Macklin, along with anyone else who runs the place.DMMA wrote:That's the thing that really concerns me. Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
Sounds fair enough. Though if a fighter is asked to leave the son-of-baron's management and refuses, maybe they'd be asking for a ban?expe wrote:It would be unfair to ban the fighters, however the simple solution for the board is to revoke or suspend the licenses of those connected to the running of the gym, Kinahan, Seamus and Matthew Macklin, along with anyone else who runs the place.DMMA wrote:That's the thing that really concerns me. Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
If the management contract is registered with the board, as I believe it's supposed to be, then I would assume that if his license was revoked, all management contracts would then become void.DMMA wrote:Sounds fair enough. Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
the articles from the Irish newspapers really interested me, in the sense that their Crime reporting seems much more in-depth than UK media, goes into more detail on who's who and who does what, than I would expect from papers over here. anyone else think that?
Re: Jamie Moore shot in both legs
Yes, I thought that too. Give names and details or organisations and their 'work' even when the criminals are on bail and/or not yet proven to be neer-do-wells + give their journalists' names.Counter-puncher wrote:the articles from the Irish newspapers really interested me, in the sense that their Crime reporting seems much more in-depth than UK media, goes into more detail on who's who and who does what, than I would expect from papers over here. anyone else think that?
Brave, maybe a bit dodgy too. Here you might have to worry about legal comebacks or fight injunctions or consider libels/slanders, but there is a history of journalists and others being done in over in Ireland. Even if in the past it would give me pause for thought. But good on them.

Yeah makes me think of Veronica Guerin (think that is the spelling) she was extremely brave and payed with her life for it.DMMA wrote:Yes, I thought that too. He had a plug hair transplant in the mid 90s I suspect.Final round wrote:I'm sure if Buncey got plugged he wouldn't be romanticising over it.

Glad to hear he is getting straight back to training fighters - he has a fantastic career ahead of him as a trainer.
