Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
..........thought it might go this way, both Ward and Goossen hitting each other with increasingly aggressive legal actions. Goossen was always going to respond to Ward's move and right now they're involved a huge legal game of 'chicken.' Sadly, they seem to hate so much other that the sensible option or arbitration is off the agenda.

Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
Andre would have been smarter to let his contract expire and then to file a lawsuit, if he felt like he was owed money.
Now he'll be in legal limbo and on the shelf for as long as this takes, years maybe even- unless one side or the other decides to settle.
As if he had any type of activity level to be able to spare some years/fights.
These are his prime years, and even if he wins a drawn out lawsuit, he still loses precious time.
Very dumb, imo.

Dead right, some good, prime years are ebbing away. But I am guessing Andre feels that he has no choice and perhaps there is so much bad blood there that the arbitration route is closed.Andre would have been smarter to let his contract expire and then to file a lawsuit, if he felt like he was owed money.

I was also thinking that as Andre is a man of strong religious beliefs; this might actually be a case of him pursuing justice and wanting to pursue and prove a moral principle?

If that's the case, those strong beliefs shouldn't have prevented him from making the move at more opportune time where his career is concerned. I feel like a smart man would have waited until he could sue Pappa Goose and still ply his craft, but that's me and not Andre, obviously.
Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
Well, the fact that his contract has been upheld TWICE now it seems like the type of "justice" Ward is looking for isn't going to happen. I hope Goossen's win this thing handily.

Which religion is OK with beating a hell out of another person for money ?Bodyshot3 wrote: I was also thinking that as Andre is a man of strong religious beliefs; this might actually be a case of him pursuing justice and wanting to pursue and prove a moral principle?

the ones everyone thinks are
is the nfl or nhl unchristian, or notre dame's "touchdown jesus"?
is nascar with people crashing cars into each other?
why would anyone sign with a promoter who gets into these kinds of battles with a
boxer who just wants to leave? this can't be good for goosen. this seems like an
all or nothing game of chicken, in that someone is going to come out of this destroyed,
and the other one is hardly going to be considered a winner.
Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
It seems like Goosen won again. Perhaps Ward should give it up.

Ward is smugly arrogant, proud, and very selfish. He even calls himself the Son of God.

Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
Nice reach . The manner in which Ward is using it is akin to him calling himself a child of God . Not claiming to be Jesus Christ but you being racist and all would try to make it negativeFreedom2013 wrote:Ward is smugly arrogant, proud, and very selfish. He even calls himself the Son of God.

Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
So, with the new lawsuits, will Ward have to "sit on a bench" till November, 2016 ?

Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
Promoters just be sticking it to fighters in general. I think every promoter is trying to send a message to all fighters by sticking it to whoever doesn't know their place. Just as we've seen with Rigondeaux, Mike Jones, Kessler, Ward, everybody, etc.. Seems like way too many fighters have been getting caught-up in promoter drama hell.

Yeah, that's almost like being a bigot and using the word "freedom" for an internet moniker. He even calls himself the Son of God.

I'm not a bigot. I named myself "freedom" because it's what I value most, and I believe a person should be free to state an opinion, even if it differs from the majority.uptconnect wrote:Yeah, that's almost like being a bigot and using the word "freedom" for an internet moniker. He even calls himself the Son of God.
The belief of many here is "if it ain't American, it ain't right" and that to me is bigotry.
A real example of bigotry is the double standard of it being okay to criticize UK and mainland European fighters, while at the same time considered blasphemy to point out anything negative about American boxers.
Svend Ottke refusing to fight outside Germany was considered bad, Andre Ward refusing to fight a overseas during the Super Six was considered acceptable, because he's an American.
I believe we should apply the same standards to everyone, REGARDLESS of where they are from.

Re: Goossen suing Andre Ward for $10 million
There is still the Ali act lawsuit by Ward and the response defamation lawsuit by Goossen. Looks like we will not see Ward in the next 2+ years until his contract expires.

This isn't just about Ward.
Goosen took the cut of Ward's manager and friend and refused to pay him. Ward doesn't think that was right and that's what started the problems. I think I posted a link to this story before.
I think it's another case of promoter greed.

Guess James Prince don't make "gym visits" on promoters.
