BROADENING THE DEFINITION/RULES OF BOXING: GOOD THING?

Ropes are kinda annoying. They can block your view, help a fighter avoid a knockdown, tangle up mfers even in extreme cases. I'm very pro this. The name is horrible though, big knockout boxing....

What difference do ropes really make? If there is a defined fighting area thats all you need imo.

Well a cage can present some of the same viewing problems ropes present & MMA kinda gots that look on lockdown so it'd kinda be biting their style too. A cell would have even more viewing problems. A glass walled room has potential though.

Again what difference do ropes makes? Ropes just seem to contain the legal fighting area. If we can define the fighting area in another way I don't really see much of a difference. Ultimately I don't think this will do well cuz people will say "sh!t this is just like boxing...who gives a f#ck" so this is a novelty thing imho, but it'd be nice if it wasn't cuz boxing could use some changes.

I tend to feel that we need defined rules as to what boxing is or we open it up to so many debates as to what is or isn't professional boxing. If we include this on fighters records than Bigger is Better should be included and so to should "white collar" boxing.

The pit, if you're not aware, is small and fighters need to start with their foot inside a small circle (or they did in BKB I, which incidentally had their first bout end with a KO via headbutt). That alone makes it notable different enough from pro boxing IMO to define the two as different.

I'm all for a wider scope in combat sports but think they should all be defined as their own sport with their own defined rules.

Be interesting to see where Fightfax stands on BKB I which featured Larry Hopkins against Chris Traietti. If FF don't consider that boxing but NSAC does we're going to see some interesting questions asked

Idk how many seats your selling when your best view is a camera. I think opening up the fighting area has more perks than tightening up & closing the fighting area more.

The WSB thing is a silly conversation & anyone counting those fights are being silly. Amateur guys have been getting paid for a long ass time already its just been called a stipend &/or money given for training expenses & to live for the best athletes. This is just an extension of that. The headgear argument is silly too or else we need to go back & update a lot of fighters pre-1984(?, iirc) records cuz they weren't wearing headgear either.

I wasn't aware there was always a BKB I. I'll have to check that out & see what I think after seeing an actual fight.

Idk that we need to invent an entirely new sport after a small rule change or else we need to consider those Jack Dempsey fights where you could hit a guy as he was getting up a whole different combat sport too.
