I have a feeling...
that Kell Brook is going to school Shawn Porter. It's going to be reminiscent of the first Winky Wright vs Shane Mosley.

He could win, I'm not counting him out or anything cuz the guy don't suck obviously, but "schooling" him I have a hard time seeing. The brother was life & death with Carson Jones in their first fight & that wasn't THAT long ago. I tend to doubt Shawn will be schooling Kell either. I think it'll be a fairly competitive fight @ worst.

Any of those would just be responses in kind. Saying that Kell will school Shawn is a pretty arrogant UK fan comment.black panther wrote:"You typical UK fanboy"

Whilst it could possibly happen, there's no evidence to suggest it will whatsoever. Anyone suggesting it will be so is because they are allowing their feelings as fans interfere with their prediction.
Re: I have a feeling...
I think a lot of people (certainly US boxing fans) underestimate Kell's ability and keep referring to the first Carson Jones fight as a measuring stick. Anyone with any knowledge of the situation knows that was not the same Kell Brook as you will see tomorrow.
Prior to the Carson Jones fight Kell was doing his own nutrition and making weight totally wrong by his own admission. He dominated Carson in the early part of the fight but seriously gassed in the second half of the fight and from that he has learnt his lesson, they have brought in top nutritional and conditioning coaches and he has been working with Sheffield Hallam University sport scientists in preparation for this World Title fight.
Re-watch the first 4 or 5 rounds of the Carson Jones fight and Kell will dominate the Porter fight in a very similar fashion and I'm pretty confident he'll be conditioned to do that for the full 12 rounds.

Re: I have a feeling...
I wonder if he will blame his loss (if he loses) on over-training? It seems like I read he has been training for 16 weeks for this fight?
I don't really care who wins to be honest, not following either guy closely. I think a loss will hurt Brook much more than Porter, but hope it is close enough to not hurt either guy's career too much whoever loses.
Funny thing is Brook is basically in the same position Porter was about a year ago. I doubt not many put money on Porter to beat Alexander. Malagnaggi was a decent win, but lets be real....its Paulie.

For me, I feel similarly about paulie. But its HOW he beat paulie that was most impressive. It really made me wonder how he ended up in a draw with diazBadhusker wrote:I wonder if he will blame his loss (if he loses) on over-training? Re: I have a feeling...
wasn't there a cut from a headbutt in the first Diaz fight? if it was Porter's first time dealing with something like that it could have had an affect on his performance. That and a rejuvenated Diaz who fought well. The rematch cleared that up.
As far as Brook "schooling" him, it's no coincidence someone saw it happen in a dream. Because that's the only place it could happen. Fantasy land.

Re: I have a feeling...
He did impress taking Paulie apart the way he did. I think he was a sparring partner too long and got used to just being competitive, and not really going after guys. He seems like he is improving each fight now.beatdown337 wrote:For me, I feel similarly about paulie. But its HOW he beat paulie that was most impressive. Re: I have a feeling...
If Devon couldn't school Porter, Kell ain't doing it.
Re: I have a feeling...
Porter is a better 'boxer' than Jones though. Jones just plodded forward and was wide open to the jab constantly. Porter will stand off for periods and then explode and try and get on the inside. I think as much as people underestimate Brook (which i agree with) they also underestimate Porter based on the Malignaggi fight and think that he's just a guy that throws wildly without any kind of thought for what's coming back at him. Now Brook is definietly more of a technician/better long range boxer than Porter overall but yeah Porter is a bit cuter than some give him credit for being.JayMc wrote:I think a lot of people (certainly US boxing fans) underestimate Kell's ability and keep referring to the first Carson Jones fight as a measuring stick. Re: I have a feeling...
If he loses it will be blamed on the weight, he'll move up and probably fight Brian Rose, then they'll put him through the eliminator process again against some south americans, then a wait for the shot, then back to the US for another go, that would be 2-3 years and 5 or 6 fights down the line, Kell hasn't got time to do that. He was mandatory for the WBO 4 years ago, since then 32 British boxers have fought for world titles, including Paul Butler who made his debut 3 months after Kell became mandatory, then won a world title 2 months ago.Badhusker wrote:I wonder if he will blame his loss (if he loses) on over-training? If he wins it's highly likely he will fight Khan, that's the biggest payday out there for him and a win in that one could open up the possibility of a fight with Floyd, or other unification fights.
To summarise, lose and a decade of effort, plus a lot of talent, will got to waste, a win opens up the kind of money that would leave him set for life.

I was wrong, Kell did not completely school him. But close enough?
Re: I have a feeling...
Well done Hulk! You are one of the few that were right. I was one of the many that were wrong.hulkmaniac wrote:

Congrats to Brook!
Re: I have a feeling...
That was a great performance by Kell, impressive. He stayed composed, fought smart and remained accurate throughout. Just a great job against a real hard style to look good against. Well done. Time to go knockout Kahn now.

Wanted Arslan to beat Hernandez, he lost.
Wanted Real to beat Culcay, he lost.
Wanted Gavern to beat Wilder, he lost.
Wanted Bika to beat Dirrell, he lost.
Wanted Porter to beat Brook, he lost.
Can't get worse, can it?

Porter swings wildly, he is crude and rugged. Totally devoid of ideas at times as proved on Sunday morning.columbo wrote:Porter is a better 'boxer' than Jones though.
