Shannon Briggs Roadmap To A Title Shot

Post by HeavyHitters »

Currently, desperate for attention Shannon Briggs ( 55-6-1 / 48 KO's ) is rated #58 by BoxRec.com. Here is my suggested roadmap for Briggs if he truly wants to get a title shot within the next year or two.

1. He should fight Zoltan Petranyi ( 51-20-0 / 16 KO's ), who is rated at #53 by BoxRec. Should be an easy fight for Shannon, thus moving up a few notches.

2. Next up, softy Fabio Moli ( 44-9-0 / 29 KO's ), who is rated at #48 by BoxRec. A bit tougher fight, but Briggs should come out victorious, moving up a few more notches in the ratings.

3. Land a fight with Francesco Pianeta ( 30-1-1 / 17 KO's ), who is rated #18 by BoxRec. Why he is ranked so high, I'm not sure. He might be a really good test for Shannon, but if you want a heavyweight title shot, at some point, you have to earn it.

4. Lastly, Briggs should take on #16 rated Erkan Teper ( 13-0-0 / 9 KO's ), another slightly obscure heavyweight. If he beats Tupperware Teper, then that should vault Briggs into the top 10 on BoxRec, and thus making him a legitimate contender for one of the heavyweight titles.

This, in my eyes, would be one of the best ways for Briggs to get there, with minimal risk, and at the same time prove that he is worthy. Who do you think Briggs should fight to make him a legit contender again?

He'd rather try and follow the same roadmap he used to get the Vitali beadown and purse.
Much quicker that way.

His next opponent will be age 42 David Long (12-4-2, 8 KOs) on Aug 23.

Long was KOed a few years ago by Deontay Wilder in round one.

Briggs ducked Alex Leapai for late October, claiming to have cut his foot in the fracas with Wladimir. Leapai is now scheduled to fight Sam Peter.

He's really not going to be looking for any even remotely threatening opponent while he's still hoping and praying he can land another hail-mary, wish upon a star, Klitschko fight.
Leapai was probably going to beat him.

Pianeta is ranked that hight, because unlike Wilder who #9 by boxrec he has beaten

Michael Marrone (18-0 Undefeated American prospect)
Scott Gammer (18-2-1 British prospect)
Johann Duhaupas (17-0 from France)
close draw with Albert Sosnowski (44-2 who later fought for title)
Matt Skelton (22-3 at that time)
Oliver McCall (56-11 but still gave a lot of American Heavyweights problems)
Fought for Title against the best
and beat pretty good 2 European fighters in has last 2 bouts undefeated Robert Teuber and Mickael Vieira.

other then Malik Scott and Liakhovich I would like to see similar names on Wilder resume.

but Briggs wont fight Pianeta anyways because he will loose, Briggs will lose to any fighter from Boxrec top 25 except maybe for Christian Hammer.

Briggs just want paycheck from title shot against Wladimir.

LOL  Where have you been the last 20 years? Briggs could be mysteriously ranked number #4 by a sanctioning body tomorrow after knocking out Jeff Lacey.

Briggs doesn't want to cash out against Pianeta, so he wouldn't take that fight.

I predict he'll be gifted a shot. The ABC orgs are crooked as a snaggletooth after street fight.

This guy reckons Briggs doesn't need a road map

just give Wlad a call, ask if he fancies a stay busy fight in the winter
