Porter v Brook - POLL
Re: Porter v Brook - POLL
I've just watched the Ringside special; Brook comes across as a very decent man and Matt Hatton has a lot of class, good people.

Ricky gets all the press & love from the public, but Matt's always seemed a slightly more genuine nice guy to me.palooka wrote:I've just watched the Ringside special; Brook comes across as a very decent man and Matt Hatton has a lot of class, good people.
Re: Porter v Brook - POLL
As much as i would like Brook to win, i feel that he is a little short at world level. I haven't seen much of Porter, he kind of reminds me of a little Jeff Lacy in that he will either go onto to prove that he belongs at the top level or get busted by someone and disappear over night. I used to be an avid fan of boxing and was never off these pages at one time. Now i seldom come on and only to read about fights that interest me, which isn't very much at all now. I hope it's Brook, i don't think he will be blown away, but i think he will lose on a points decision.
Re: Porter v Brook - POLL
I've watched quite a bit of porter the last two days, and rewatched a few of Brooks fights. I now see this fight being 70/30 in favour of a Porter win. If the mediocre Carson Jones pressure can cause Brook problems, thats a strong indication he will struggle with Porters pressure fighting style. Porters a good few levels up from Carson Jones, his movement, shot variety and power are in a different league. Brooks up against it tonight. He's a good technician, but something tells me he will be lacking at this level. I'm going to go for a Porter win, by KO in the mid rounds.
I hope Brook proves me wrong, i will be rooting for him. I'd love to see him wipe the floor with Porter, though i'm not sure he has the tools to do so. We will find out soon enough.
Porters a goood fighter, though i reckon his last two wins have flattered him. Mayweather and Pacquiao would wipe the floor with him, the aging Marquez will likely school him, Bradley would spank him, as would Khan. I dont think he will prove to be anything special at the very top level.

Didn't realise this was an outdoor event... Can see Brook getting stopped in 9
He was sweating his back out at the weigh in

I didn't know that either. According to local forecasts it's going to be about 23 degrees when they hit the ring with humidity up at around 80%. Very difficult conditions, especially if your a heavy sweater.sweetscience wrote:Didn't realise this was an outdoor event... Can see Brook getting stopped in 9

doesn't sound tailor-made for a Sheffield man does it?chad wrote:I didn't know that either. Re: Porter v Brook - POLL
Anyone know what the timings for all the televised fights are tonight? I'm planning on going to bed & setting the alarm for 3.30 as apparently the ringwalks for Brook v Porter will be just before 4am. But ideally I don't want to switch on halfway through another fight as want to watch the rest of the bill on Sunday morning, so a rough idea of the rest of the timings would be great.
Re: Porter v Brook - POLL
I didn't know much about either before this week. I saw Brook when he fought Mick Jennings and I think I saw one of his earlier fights but that's it. I'd never seen Porter. I've taken the time to do a bit of YouTubing in the last few days and I predict that Brook will stop the American before the end of the ninth.

Boxrec still doesn't list the officials. Does anyone knows who officiate the fight?

Don't know why but Brook has never impressed me , thought Jones beat the piss out of him in their first fight an in their 2nd the ref was a pudendum an robbed us of seeing Kell win conclusively .
That being said i hope tonight he make believer out of me ;;-) WAR BROOK
