I'm sorry, Kell Brook

Post by Kaaspeer »

I underrated you and thought this would be just another American slaughter of an European, but no. You were far better than me and most others gave you credit for when calling you a bum and saying you would get stopped. We apologize. Probably, no one will want to watch Shawn Porter fight again...

He did step up; Porter is a real handful and Brook showed he can take a mauling and box at world level - he has the title to prove it. Brook surprised me by handling the last 6 rounds well, I thought Porter would pull away. I'll watch them both box again.

I think you should write a personal letter of apology and ban yourself for one month. :OhYes:

Could we possibly extend to two months to remove some front page clutter?

I was in the camp of people who thought Brook was quality and had a real shot against Porter, but to be fair I get why people were down on him. He spent far too long treading water, for whatever reason, and any fighter is going to attract his critics in that situation. I think the only thing that ever really bugged me, is that people spent a bit too long focusing on the negative with Brook. He had always shown he was a dangerous 147lb fighter, even if he wasn't and isn't the complete package. Glad he finally got his shot and hopefully now people have a bit more of a balanced opinion on his good and bad points.

I don't get this part. I thought it was a close fight and Porter's body attack was ignored by the judges.

It wasn't a fun fight. Competitive yet butt ugly. Shawn wants a rematch unsurprisingly, but I hope he doesn't get it.

Shawn is a good boxer, but I doubt we will see much more fun in his career. He had a good time destroying Alexander and Malignaggi, but that time is over, his ride to stardom has finished...

I agree. After one close loss it's completely reasonable to write off the rest of a fighters career...

Who do you see Porter fight next, where do you possibly see him go from here?

I don't know man...now that he doesn't have that perfect record I'm not sure he could even get a journeyman to accept a fight with him.

That's another good reason that his career is dead. This cat is finished in the game.

It's so pathetic when a supposed top guy loses. That's why all the all time greats had perfect records. I'm glad this poster got exposed. One loss...may as well retire...

Not sure about no one wanting to see Porter again. the guy can bang and he's all action (if a little scrappy)

On top form and against the right type of opponent, i'd happily watch this guy. although, he'll struggle to ever pick up a belt again and would lose in the UK if a rematch happens

As for Kell, I've always thought he was good enough to pick up a belt and he is world class, but in that packed division he is still somewhere outside the top 5 for me (no shame in that).

hope he enjoys his success, but he'd lose to Mayweather, Bradley or Pacquiao, no doubt in my mind about that.
If JMM still has enough gas in the tank, he beats Brook.
I'd struggle to pick the winner against Maidana, Khan or Thurman, but i'd probably put brook as the slight outsider in any of those fights (although i think he'd cope well with Maidanas style)
And if Garcia steps up i'd fancy him too.
That only really leaves Guerrero, Devon or Porter again in the top ten that i would really fancy Kell to beat.

Anyway, nice to see someone stateside eat some humble pie, I've had to do it often enough. Most recently with Terence Crawford and Danny Garcia.
