If Wazza is struggling like people say then im sure the Chisora/Fury postponement must have had an affect on Bundu's payment, but as someone posted he should be dipping into his own pocket to pay him

I think in the 90's sky paid an absolute fortune for their boxing output, and if my memory is correct, at one point they paid Fwank a massive annual fee as their boxing consultant. I think fortunes were made back then, that can only be dreamed about these days.

The Calzaghe thing was sorted out.liamlion wrote:The bloke is an absolute rat. The way he cheated Calzaghe out of his Hopkins purse was outrageous.
Re: Bundu, the money should have been paid into his account the day after the fight. Good shout from the poster who mentioned fight purses should be held independently at the time of fight.
Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
Calzaghe was sat more or less next to him at Cleverly-Kovalev next year, I don't know about you but I wouldn't want anything to do with a man that owed me millions. I thought they'd come to sort of deal on that one and Joe had got his money.liamlion wrote:The bloke is an absolute rat. The way he cheated Calzaghe out of his Hopkins purse was outrageous.

Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
They were working on the "Fighting Back" series for the channel, there was a one hour special paying tribute to how great Joe's win over Bernard Hopkins was. The gist of the show was to show to the viewers that it was one of the most remarkable things that has ever happened, ever, for all sorts of reasons. The special was to air in October, and I think they were mates at ringside 2 months before.
A poster above says the money dispute was sorted out, I certainly hope so. That money was Joe's.

This just keeps on happening with fish eyes he's a disgrace to the sport. I'm surprised he has any fighters left at all, and ask your self this what is the reason all his fighters have left him???? This has happened to almost all his stable

His stable has been decimated over the past 3 years, since he launched his channel. When you look at what it was before he left Sky and set up his own channel, to now, the stable is just knackered. Makes you wonder what it will be like in a year or two.righthook wrote:Exactly what I was going to say!DMA1987 wrote:Is anybody even remotely suprised?

Out of interest, are the Evangelou brothers still with him ? They were hyped as "big" (ahem) signings. I think they're fighting at York Hall next month on another promotion. If Fwank's staging a show there himself during September, you'd think they would be on it ?

When a fight goes to purse bids, does the fighter get paid directly from the prevailing promoter or from the board ? I thought the promoter lodges the money with the sanctioning board upfront and the boxers are then paid accordingly as per the terms of the contract ?

Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
We could be drawing the wrong conclusions - money issues / cashflow.
It could be a good old fashioned sulk.
Fwank's built Frankie Gavin over the past few years, and had very high hopes. He won the purse bids to get his man home advantage against a very old European champion. It was a close fight but two things happened that night - Frankie lost the fight, and the result possibly (and I hope I'm wrong) put the expectations of him becoming a legit and dominant world champ into a sobering perspective.
The plan was for Bundu to come over with the belt, and leave without it. The plan went wrong, not long after Chisora / Fury went down the toilet. Maybe Fwank's just absolutely fed up ?

Frank's cocked up there, Groves is fighting the same night at Wembley Arena, better off doing a deal with Sauerland for the undercard and get Groves' fight on allegedly.leforge wrote:He got show at York hall 20 sept with bugolini skeete is next show!

Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
He used his Sun column to slag folk off, none more so than Kell Brook. The sniping was regular and bitter. Kell's had the last laugh on that feud, without a doubt. Not only does it make Fwank look like a bitter ex who can't get over things, but it emphasises to other boxers that the grass is undoubtably greener on the other side of the fence these days.Manchester Massive wrote:Hearn putting on Brook v Khan won't help his mood either
He no longer has the Sun column to slate his enemies, the copperbox venture seems to have stalled, his stable has fallen apart, all the top amateurs have turned pro with Matchroom, and Matchroom are going from strength to strength, whilst Fwank can't put together a decent arena show anymore. I sincerely hope the TV channel is doing well financially, as that can be his foundation for bouncing back.

It's been a terrible time for FW in the ring recently. Gavin, Buglioni and Keane getting beat, his biggest hope and biggest ticket sellers, he must be as sick as a pig. He's still got Butler, Brad Saunders, Flanagan, Liam Smith... He's down but not out.
Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
Maybe saurland got another channel lined up. Hennessy got 5 show that night too. Mitchell smith v Kay's it could be at York hall. Not sure where groves is going?expe wrote:Frank's cocked up there, Groves is fighting the same night at Wembley Arena, better off doing a deal with Sauerland for the undercard and get Groves' fight on allegedly.leforge wrote:He got show at York hall 20 sept with bugolini skeete is next show!

There Is a long way to go before that potential fight gets made..Manchester Massive wrote:Hearn putting on Brook v Khan won't help his mood either
For one, Khan is no George Groves in the sense of having to basically take on the house fighter in Froch on a Matchroom show. Khan and GBP will demand a 50/50 promotion with Eddie no doubt about it.

How the hell are all Buglioni's fans gonna fit in the York Hall.leforge wrote:He got show at York hall 20 sept with bugolini skeete is next show!
Didn't they say on allegedly that the 80,000 who turned up to Froch - Groves had all thought they were turning up to see Frank Buglioni?

Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
Agreed. I can see Khan going for Mayweather first. He can lose that, and still earn a fortune from fighting Brook in a battle of Britain, and like Froch/Groves, Khan/Brook could pan out over a couple of fights.Manchester Hitman wrote:There Is a long way to go before that potential fight gets made..Manchester Massive wrote:Hearn putting on Brook v Khan won't help his mood either

We may even see Froch/Groves 3, you never know. Fortunes swing massively in this sport. Maybe in a year's time Groves will have a world title and Froch won't. In that scenario, a third fight would be enticing.
At the rate things are going for Fwank, he's going to struggle to sell out York hall.
Re: Bundu still unpaid for Gavin fight...
Sky don't seem to be interested in working with promoters not named Hearn, as you say Channel 5 have a show on, unless a terrestrial TV channel is making a surprise return to boxing, or BT have come in, I don't see where else it could end up, maybe Eurosport? Would be a logical move to me, Sauerland fill out the undercard, Frank gets a big name on allegedly.leforge wrote:Maybe saurland got another channel lined up. Hennessy got 5 show that night too.
