Interesting. Looking forward to some fun fights. Alfredo is fun win or lose. Alfredo vs GGG, Alfredo vs Peter, Alfredo vs Miguel, hell I kinda would like to see Alfredo vs Sergio & see whats happens. I think Alfredo vs Gabe would be a good fringe contender kinda fight that I'd consider a pickem.

He took a lot of punishment in his last two fights, and looked really bad against Canelo. I don't know how much more he has left in the tank....

Also, his choice of a new coach was a mistake. The style instilled by Hunter is no good for him.armageto wrote:He took a lot of punishment in his last two fights, and looked really bad against Canelo. I don't know how much more he has left in the tank....

I read that Angulo had to lose something like 36lbs in 8 weeks before the Canelo fight? Wow, no wonder he looked like crap. It would be nice to see the old Angulo back - the one that lets his hands go.

Im interested in this. I know a lot of people (myself included) felt that he looked really bad in the fight against canelo and were curious as to why. I saw an interview with virgil hunter last week where he said that angulo came into camp 8 weeks out from the fight. 35 lbs overweight. THATS ALOT!. He basically said that it took everything they had just to make weight and thus on fight night, he had nothing left. It made some sense, but now that he's moving up in weight directly following I kinda think he may be telling the truth.

There isn't really an excuse for that sorta sh!t imho. As a professional in a weight limit sport I think you gotta take your weight seriously all year, year after year, but in particular when you got the biggest fight of your career coming up.
Re: Alfredo Angulo moving to middleweight.
I could have sworn it was him that was also smoking cigarettes during an interview some time back. He probably gained a lot when he had to quit smoking before training camp.

If he still walks at 190, MW is also not a good match for him.beatdown337 wrote:Im interested in this. Re: Alfredo Angulo moving to middleweight.
he should just retire seriously. But the good news is Haymon might give him a nice payday to fight Jacobs or Quillin.

Quillin will likely lose his belt after November fight with Korobov. He wasn't a good draw anyway.hulkmaniac wrote:he should just retire seriously. But the good news is Haymon might give him a nice payday to fight Jacobs or Quillin.

I'd like to see Angulo-Macklin...after a tuneup.
Re: Alfredo Angulo moving to middleweight.
Angulo vs Rosado could show if Angulo can have any hopes at MW.
Re: Alfredo Angulo moving to middleweight.
I agree with majority over folks here. He'll get clobbered vs 160lb dudes. Too slow, not skilled enough.reminds me of how far gpne Margarito was towards end of career

Angulo-Lemieux?
