He hasn't held a world belt for nearly 3 years. Isn't actually all that popular in the UK (you keep skipping over this). Bearing in mind the money for this fight would be largely UK. And with Hearns plans for Rios in December he will be increasing Kells American profile pretty sharpish.

Just because Khan isn't popular doesn't mean that he isn't the draw. Walk down the street and say the name Kell Brook, most people won't have a clue, do the same with Khan and it's a different story, he's a far bigger name. There's no chance he fights for less than 50-50, his ego won't allow it for a start and he brings enough to the table to demand at least that. We all know that Rios isn't happening, just because Hearn says it doesn't mean he has any intention of making it or that it would happen if he did.

How many people turned out for his last fight in the UK? Khan is already fighting in December, I fully see Rios happening. Or somebody similar.

When you say "we all know", we don't at all. You should know that by now.

Khan may or may not be 'popular' mate but that is largely irrelevant whether people like him - the fact is probably 8 or 9 out of 10 people in this county KNOW who he is and he is known as one of the most exciting fghters in world boxing. You must remember we're not just talking about a basic boxing event in the UK this will be a massive commercial event and Khans international appeal especially in the Arab world will generate millions in sponsorships etc.
Eubank wasn't 'popular' Mayweather isnt 'popular' Naz to a large degree wasn't 'popular' guess what they are/ where some of the highest paid boxers in there respective weight divisions..
Look let's see what happens if the fight is made- I guarantee you that Of the fighters pot is say basic £10m Khan will take home at least £7m

Got to say i agree , Khan is un predictable , he likes to fight but he can get ko'd , its a guessing game with Khan , you just don't know if he's going to get bowled over or not , Most mainstream boxers, people would of lost interest in by now , for suffering the defeats Khan has , But its this in built belief that he has in himself , that makes him interesting ,,

Khan does'nt need Kell Brooks if not Mayweather , theres so many more options , Kell needs Khan to cement that big payday , Lets have it right Khan is the perfect fight for Kell , its going to be huge in Britain , Kell hits him with a good righthand and its over , I could'nt think of a better fight for Kell amongst the best in that division .

I suspect it will happen but Kell will have to take the lower purse , no doubt about that , if he does'nt whats next for him , a Porter rematch , a fight with Thurnam . or bring in a lower grade fighter for an easy defence and paid peanuts , .

I think it will happen next year , Khan is obviously going to chase the Mayweather fight , if he fights and loses to Brooks , he can kiss Mayweather goodbye , , on the other hand if Mayweather choses someone else Khan still has Brooks to go at , .

But Oscar at ringside , cheering Brooks whenever he landed a good shot , makes me think he has an eye on a joint promotion and some English pounds .

There were discussions for him to fight in Dubai. He's an icon to many Muslims.

I think everyone's had discussions to fight in Dubai. I remember Naz making a controversial comment in Boxing Monthly in this very early days where he suggested it was offensive for an Arab to be called Pakistani(but he didn't put it that kindly).

Yeah there is an aloofness and arrogance associated with many Arabs. They look down on darker skinned Muslims from the Indian subcontinent.

But being a Muslim, Amir is pretty famous in the U.A.E and Saudi. They like their combat sports over there; the world Jiu-Jitsu tournament is held in Abu Dhabi and pretty sure the UFC event held there was a sell out. Also, the fact that's it's a tax haven is a major factor in attracting events there.

More people know who Audley Harrison is than Anthony Joshua, doesn't mean he would get a bigger split if they fought. Difference between being known and being famous and being a draw. Brook would attract the larger fanbase and as champ would rightly take the larger split

Rios got 4m v Pacquiao and 1m v Chaves. Do you really think Eddie is bringing him over in December.

Chaves is more likely to get the call.

For a fight he thinks he could win, for a World title? If he is to be had around the $1mil mark then why not? He got about the same in the second alvarado fight.

Or is it better to assume the worst every time? I'm not saying it's happening, but to not even entertain the idea is a bit too cynical for me.

Khan will not beat Brook.
And that loss would put the final nail in the coffin with the British public.
A coffin he has been constructing for himself for many years by being an arrogant prick.
He has to play a strategic game as he has no chin and I get that but all the bulls hit might wash stateside it doesn't here.
Had he remembered that he would have still have a fan base here.
As it stands the general public will demand the fight but he will look to get Mayweather as it's less shame getting banged out by him.
If the Brook fights built right the payday for Khan will be bigger than whatever Mayweather decides to throw him.
Brook knows he beats Khan and wants it.
If Mayweather wants Khan it happens and Khan gets levelled.
Then he will come crawling back to blighty looking for sympathy and wanting to fight Brook cos he has nowhere else to go.

Would Brook v Rios work as a PPV? I very much doubt it.

I holidayed in Vegas and went to Rios/Chaves and there was about 2k people in there. He was paid 1m dollars for this. Now if his team get wind of what the Sheffield Arena holds and throw in the IBF title then I'm certain that Rios will want a little more than 1m dollars.]

Brook will also want a sizeable fee due to his new status as champion.

It's a lovely fight to make and it'll propel Brook's stock in America but I just cant see it at the moment.

I'm guessing a Diego Chaves or Joesito Lopez will get the call for a high five or low six figure sum, Bundu will face Jo Jo Dan in eliminator and face Brook in April and then Brook will get Khan after the Bolton boy loses to Mayweather.

Cant believe Khan is getting leathered on this thread.

Fair enough if youre a Brook fan but Khan's achievements are unbelievable. Olympic medallist at 17, world champion at 22, went 1-2 against arguably the greatest amateur ever. Absolutely phenomenal accomplishments.

Knocked out by Prescott but was world champion at division above a year later, has a body of work that includes Barrera, Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Maidana, Judah, Peterson, Garcia, and Collazo.

Signed to Golden Boy, trained by Harrison, Powell, Roach and Hunter. The man has absolutely cracked it.

It may well be Kell Brook's time but leathering Khan out of love for Brook is just pure wrong.

Great fight for British boxing. Lets hope they get it on.

Not really leathering, just doubting him as a current boxing draw in the UK. I think both PPV numbers and ticket sales have backed that up.

He has had a great career, but he is almost 4 years removed from his best win and 3 from his last World Title.

Exactly, the value of a fighter goes up and down depending on form. While Khan maybe a global name, he is not a global superstar as some people keep saying. He doesn't shift tickets here or in the states and he doesn't sell PPVs over the water and the ones he has had here have been low of late.

He is a fighter that will be seen as a more than credible opponent and a beatable name for your ledger but he is pretty much the away fighter at all times now in the big fights.

His best chance of a huge purse is a summer fight v Brook. He'll take a small percentage against Mayweather as he doesn't bring much money to the table. What extra money does Khan bring that Garcia etc would not? People in this country will always watch Mayweather.

I think the British love a good world title showdown between 2 Brits, especially if it involves a well-known guy like Khan who is disliked by a fair amount of people. I think they could sell the rivalry well between Brook and Khan and it would be a bigger draw than most the other people Brook can face. Definitely can be sold this one on PPV and I think it would make sense for both fighters.

Good post,However I know it`s a name on the resume but he only beat the ghost of Barrera on a cut, which they waited for two rounds to stop the fight so he could get the win and not be a no contest. His showboating against Barrera and everything what went on that night is the reason I have never been a fan of his but you do make some good points
