who is the bigger name boxer, Khan or Brook?

Post by palooka »

After Kelly Brook's big win last weekend the drums are beating for a Brook v Khan bout.
Who is the bigger draw and how would a purse be split?

Khan is the bigger name, is that even arguable?

I think Kell probably sells better these days, though. Didn't Khan struggle to sell in Sheffield?

Purse split is difficult, Brook is the champion but he won't make more fighting anyone else other than Khan.

Khan. Silly question. He's known by everyone. 99.99 of whom don't buy tickets.

Kell Brook is a bigger name than Amir Khan. Ezekiel Brinsley Reid Brook is a far bigger name and a far superior score on scrabble.

That sounds fair, I also think a lot people will watch it in hope Khan gets knocked out, IF that happens then Brook could turn into the PPV star Eddie wants for when Froch retires.

I'd expect Khan will have to be paid very well - he is still the Marquee name, despite his hit and miss record at top level.

Brook is a relative (I said relative remember) newcomer, and Khan has a track record all the way back to that Olympic silver.

Nah he's lost to Danny and Lamont and he's still bigger than both put together...
Win, lose or draw he still seems to be talked about.

Brook will have if not already has a bigger fan base than either of them also Golden Boy will drop support of Khan if he has another bad loss and he is going to get sparked out.

I wouldn't say he's bigger than Garcia over there.

Though they now seem to be trying their best to ruin him.

After beating Matthyse his stock was big, probably time he moved up to WW

It's Khan don't think that takes much thinking about.
Now that Kell has secured the title he needs to push on PR wise and get his name out there.
If the fight comes off Kell will be a household name.

They need one another.

On their own, Brook brings the biggest gate. As their respective Sheffield shows have proven.

But Khan brings a bigger 'brand' value in the UK which might not translate into live attendance, but with the Sky Machine in full swing can be a serious multiplier in the casual TV viewer stakes.

Agreed. All Asians round the country that I know, seem to know when Khan is fighting and are keen to view his fights.

Khan is by far the bigger name.

Brook has taken what seems to be an eternity to get to the point he is at now & he's still not even as big a name as Khan.

He broke Khan's name down into percentages by letter and with Brook having one more letter it is 25% bigger, I assume.

Well he's rubbish at maths because that would be 20% bigger name as brook has 5 letters being the bigger name. So 1 letter more so 20% bigger

No. There is only four letters in Khan's name, so each letter is 25%, thus adding one letter would make it 25% bigger.
