It just depends if he decides to not even try again or not...

I'd like to see Alex win it. He's a good hard working guy who took a lot of slack for getting slaughtered by Wlad.

Scott should win this, if not just quit and stick to being a sparring partner.

Scott capitulated so easily against Wilder I have no idea what to think about the guy anymore. He was able to largely outbox Glazkov so he should really be able to beat Leapai, but at the same time I wouldn't be shocked if he just went down from a unremarkable-looking shot and then didn't bother to get up.

Leapai hurt Boytsov, why shouldn't he be able to do this to Scott?

Leapai? A guy that just had a title shot with Wlad vs "the diver" Scott? Should be an easy win for Leapai, right? Sounds like a guy that Wilder should have fought to get some credit.

I guess if Scott wins, it will make Wilder look a little better.

I thought Leapai was due to fight Samuel Peter in October?

i think this post is an attempt to 'normalize' the idea of Scott returning.

in reality he should have been banned.

heavyweight boxing is in such a poor state in the US we hardly need to return to fixed matches.

only way scott wins is if he runs and boxes leapai (the way kingpin beathim)
my worry is if leapai connects with scot its over

scott will go down too easy, if paid well!!!!!

Well, if it took him 5 rounds to connect with his 10 total punches like with Wlad, this match just may go the distance! :box:

Bad style matchup for Leapai.

He would have had a better chance against Sam Peter.

It's like Earnie Shavers vs Quick Tillis except those two were better.

I also see Scott boxing Leapai's ears off, but Alex turning it around with a couple big shots wouldn't be very surprising.

Alex LePie V Malik Scooter vs. Cannon Briggy

Post by HeavyHitters »

Yeah, I say we boycott the LePie vs. Scott fight, and try and promote the LePie vs. Peter fight to happen instead. The ladder is a much more entertaining matchup, even if Peter comes in sloppily out of shape. I'd love to see those two guys stand in the middle of the ring and go toe-to-toe. LePie/Scott? I don't think we'd see much engagement between the two, as Scott would most likely bike thru out the fight.

PS - Briggs needs more Pie!! I say if neither of these fights happen, let Briggy step in against LePie!

You two are quite adamant about Scott diving for Wilder. Maybe you're right. I sure can't prove it wasn't a dive. But there have been legit 1 punch knockouts where the punch didn't look like much. Heads don't always snap back and Wilder does have good power. 31(31) I believe. But sure, it could have been a dive.

Calling it a "dive" implies there was advance knowledge or that he was paid off. Personally I think he got knocked down and decided "f*ck it, I'm getting paid either way" and just gave up. Lack of heart more than anything else.

This is why I have a problem with 'dive' being chucked around. A dive is dishonest, not having a fighters heart is unfortunate.

A boxer not having a fighting heart is just him being dishonest with himself. He probably shouldn't be in boxing if that is the case.

No fight fan wants to see a boxer step into the ring to play paddy cakes with the other fighter.

I am reasonably pleased with this match-up. I think it could go either way. I think Leapai and Scott have both had some odd, conflicting results in their careers that make it hard to accurately place them. A fight like this will give us a lot of information about both fighters, as well as numerous of their past opponents (Chisora, Boytsov, Glazkov, etc.).

This fight has one punch knock out written all over it. Malik will probably run his way to survival through early to mid rounds. Gets tagged mid to late, decides he had enough and gets back to cigar trade.

I don't know if it was a dive but I believe that he quit against chisora too. look how he was slow to get up against chisora and then as soon as the ref waved the fight off he jumped up acting upset about that decision.

scott does have some solid boxing skills but it seems like he doesn't want to go the tough road anymore. at some point in their careers fighters sometimes decide that they don't have it for the very top and then look to make a buck as a journeyman type of fighter. some do it by going down easily while others like kevin johnson do it by fighting extremely defensive, doing a couple nice shoulders rolls and other stuff per round and screw around with the opponent a little.

ideally you want any fighter going for the win all the time but in reality not anyone can win and those who are paid to lose find some ways to make the job easier for themselves. it doesn't have to be blatant fixing, he just might have decided on his own to collect that paycheck without getting hit a lot.

Scott by UD and pretty wide. He simply took a bribe and fell over for his friend Wilder who is a complete fraud. Scott beat Glazkov though no matter what the cards said and when he really comes to fight he can box like crazy. He should be able to make Alex look like a fool most of the fight. I'll be surprised if Leapai wins even 2 rounds.

I think Scott was dazed by Wilder and didn't get back up because he didn't want to get brutally KO'd. I think calling Wilder a complete fraud at this point will either make you look like a really smart guy or an idiot. I choose to say the jury is out still on Wilder. If Stiverne destroys him I will agree with you. If Wilder destroys Stiverne hopefully we will hear back from you for your new assessment. (unless Stiverne takes a dive, of course)
