Here's a couple of simple defensive techniques that might help you with this.
1) keep your right hand up nice and high when your jabbing
That way it's catching the left hook
2) After you throw your jab roll out to the right taking a half step back
That way your rolling under the left hook
3)faint with your left like your going to jab and draw out his left hook
Then take half step back and counter with your jab a nice sharp 1
Hope this helps you out lad most importantly keep your right hand up
When your thrown single jabs and like wise when your thrown your right hand
Keep your left up high

Yeah thanks pretty much,
I asked my coach the same thing he told me I have the tendency to drop my non attacking hand up to my chest when I punch.

That's good advice though, precede my jabs with feints thank you !

Don Curry nailed Milton McCrory with a better of a counter hook; if it can happen to Milton it can happen to anyone.

It wouldn't have happened to Milton if he had been wise, and took the fight in early '83, when he could've won.

Their respective showings against Colin Jones shows the gulf between them.

That's true, to an extent, but if they had taken that fight like they had scheduled, don't think Curry was so far advance where he could dominate McCrory. I think Milton would've have edged Donald.Anytime after '83, he loses that edge, which happened in '85.

Marlon Starling would have given Milton fits and Curry beat him twice. Milton was very good at what he did and was very well conditioned, he showed great heart against McCallum but Curry was brilliant for a time and a full level above Milton, too strong, too quick and too powerful.

No doubt, Marlon possilby could've beaten Milton, but, let's remember, in late '82, early '83, Donald wasn't a fully developed fighter yet. And he didn't look that great against Bruce Finch. At that stage, I think pre-Jones McCrory could have taken him. A real close fight, but I think the Ice Man had enough at that stage to cool the Cobra. BTW, cant see Jun-Sok Hwang flooring McCrory or Starling like he did Curry.

Got to say, too, that Donald was lucky that Bobby Joe Young wasn't around. He didn't have Curry's all-around skill set, but his punch was good enough to derail Curry. Shame the whole Kevin Howard loss messed him up.
