Graham Earl spoiler

Post by Old bones Ian »

Completely under the radar, Earl was stopped in 10 rounds last night by Steve Martin. The fight took place in Malta, where Martin is based. Reports say Earl faded and the towel came in from his corner.
It was for the WBF welter title, hopefully Earl will retire now.

Steve Martin? Who next? Chevy Chase?

I'll get my coat.....but only if Earl promises to get his too, he needs to walk away before he completely ruins himself. Too brave for his own good.

He's hung tough in his 2 comeback fights, but now lost both of them.
He shouldn't just become a name on someone's record, which he will do if he stays fighting.

I always remember him losing to a seemingly novice fighter called Ricky Burns who was having I think his 10th fight. Earl was British champ and it was a quick, cheeky little non title fight.

What ever happened to that Burns kid?

I thought Romanov got shafted when he fought Earl myself.

The way he took apart Thaxton, he looked world class - then just didn't care anymore about boxing and floated around.

Earl out worked Romanov & soaked up some heavy digs against a fighter looking for the one punch finish.

Bobby Vanzie got well and truly robbed against Earl.

Twice stopped handy Steve Murray too. He was a good operator before his chin started getting brittle.
