I have information for boxer Sam Sterling http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer. I looked over his death certificate in California. He was born on Feb.18, 1920 and died on Oct. 1, 1977. He died in Santa Barbara, California. Born in Poland (Europe), grew up in Baltimore,Maryland. Birth name: Samuel Carl Sterling.
I believe these fights for a Sam Sterling in Australia belong to Baltimore, Sam Sterling: http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer. Sterling was a noted world traveler and was in Australia in the 1950s. If you look at these Australian matches, they were all fought in a brief period of time, leading me to believe that Sterling was only in Australia for a limited time and needed money. The weights match up, as Sterling's normal weight was 150-155lbs.
Updates For Sam Sterling
Re: Updates For Sam Sterling
I don't think these two records belong to the same fighter. The Sterling that fought a 4-rounder in 1967 would have been 47 at the time, which I would find highly unlikely. If your biographical information belongs to one of these fighters, I would find the Australian-based fighter the more likely candidate. I have not come accross any information however, in Australian papers, that this fighter was American. What is your source for Sterling being in Australia at the time?

Re: Updates For Sam Sterling
I spoke to his daughter. She tolf me that her father was a world traveler, and was in Australia in the1950s. She confirmed that 1967 fight, but can not confirm any fights in Australia, buy she believes it might of been him. Anyhow, his birth death dates, which I listed in my first post are correct, as I saw his death certificate.
