Brian Nielsen v. Vitaly Klitschko
Brian Nielsen v. Vitaly Klitschko
Who would win?For me Vitaly would beat Nielsen by late stoppage or wide decision.

I don't think Nielsen would have ever challenged for a world title. Although maybe WBO v Herbie Hide would have been interesting.

Nielsen was a big tub of shit but he was tough. He sees out the fight, but loses obviously.
I would have confidently picked Nielsen to stop Herbie. Hide's worst nightmare was a solid-chinned guy who could throw back. Herbie would have lost to Ross Puritty or Sherman Williams too.polecateddy wrote:I don't think Nielsen would have ever challenged for a world title. I think the version of Hide which beat Bent and later Tucker was a handful. But you're right in that a durable guy like Neilsen might not be an ideal opponent.

It shouldn't even be a question as to who would win this, but rather a matter of "how". I'm guessing Klit stops him between rounds 4-7.
Re: Brian Nielsen v. Vitaly Klitschko
Never really understood whether The Great Dane was ever a vaguely credible contender, someone who could threaten the best but somehow missed the boat, or just a purely manufactured ticket-seller fed a succession of obliging, give-me-the-cheque names.
What is is no doubt is that VK has a Danish Bacon fry-up, whether Nielsen is served-up crispy after 12-rounds beneath the grill or just gently heated is the only valid question.
Either way...he is getting served with ketchup and toast and basically munched as part of a 'full Ukrainian breakfast.'

Obviously Vitaly's mobility, speed, combination punching, and defense would be too much for Nielsen. Though Nielsen was able to stop Phil Jackson; something even Chris Byrd was unable to do.
