there's an extent to which a 'non-puncher' can find it easier to hurt a bloke to the body than he does with head shots, yes.

I dont think Khan is feather fisted or even a non-puncher as such but I think it takes him 6 or 7 good shots vs other guys 1 or 2 to make inroads.

Ortiz for all his faults constantly sat down on his punches though, much to his detriment in the Maidana bout.

Amir has power, he just chose his speed attributes above anything else in his career. if he sat down on shots properly (like Kell does to be fair) he would look 100% more powerful and spiteful when landing his own.

Froch looks quick when he throws flurries occasionally for christ sakes, but he doesnt look powerful doing it despite the fact we know he has good whack.

Dont get me wrong Amir aint no Julian Jackson, but i reckon he's being severely underated here.

Totally agree mate. Froch was me being lazy, but it was more to highlight the difference in sitting down on the punch and trying to rattle somebodies chains with flurries. Again the flurries have actually helped carl as it makes him more active in a fight, whereas previously against the likes of Dirrell & taylor he looked really lost or inactive in certain points.

Brook got a big win and is an excellent fighter; Khan has many good wins - he's written off because he's not Tex Cobb; Khan is a top level fighter and he may well be even better after training for length with Hunter.

Tell you one thing lefty, brook isn't unknown to pull his head straight back from shots. Fast hands thrown straight by khan could definitely buzz him up if he gets his distance wrong.

I see what you mean there. From the waist up brook is pretty stiff and static. He has good reflexes and a good ability to anticipate shots coming at him but against someone with khans kind of speed it would be dangerous.

Khan's problem is he doesn't have anything like a solid defence, that's why he skates round the ring firing shots off, without sitting down on the shots. Maybe hunter can bring that to him...we shall see. If he learned to fight in the pocket without leaving his chin hanging in the air, he'd be a much more well rounded fighter.

again i think its down to lack of patience in the ring. He's so herky jerky reliant on speed that he's never settled enough to even begin to have a competent defense. Basically he has never put in the required graft to become a complete fighter when arguably the talent he displayed at 17 showed he could comfortably become one.
