Predict how many PPV buys the Floyd/Chico rematch will do!!!

Post by Spazzed Out Lenny »

I personally thought the last card was 100% stellar and entertaining. This time around? It definitely does not sound as nearly as appealing as the first card. Not to take anything away from the fighters themselves but I would gladly watch them on fox or espn instead of of a much anticipated rematch card like this one.

I honestly doubt this card will break 900,000 buys.

If Floyd were to rematch Chico then I bet it would do eleventy trillion buys, because the poor cunt's been dead quite some time.

However, I have a terrible feeling you mean "Chino", which is a far less interesting proposition imo (c'mon, Floyd versus Zombie Corrales? Who the fvck wouldn't pay for that?).

Could zombie corrales take a punch though or would his head just fall off? That's an important factor in a possible matchup.

Ill have to disagree with you guys. I felt like I totally got taken to school earlier this week when reading an article regarding this issue. I always figured that better undercards would equal more ppv buys. But what the numbers show is that the "casual fan" accounts for a significant portion of ppv buys. And since that fan isn't really a hardcore follower of the sport, he or she really has no idea who the fighters on the undercard are no matter how talented they may be or how unstoppable they have been up to this point. What im saying is though we may not like it, it makes far more financial sense to place entertaining fights with c fighers on the card who wont require such a large purse and have the headliner as the major fight on the card. This way people, if they even bother to tune in or show up before the main even starts, will still be entertained and the promoter maximizes his profit.

1.1 million. The undercards are irrelevant to the PPV equation and I think a lot of Floyd's huge fans skipped the first one because they thought Maidana had no chance in hell. They'll be back for this one.

I have to agree between 1 million and 1.2 million would be my guess.
And if the numbers are that strong Showtime will release figures.

Agree with 1mill+. I think the "closeness" of the first one will bring in more of his hater fans too hoping beyond hope he'll lose this time.

The undercard is pretty poor for a huge fight like that, I think the numbers will be a lot lower then the last time, and it looks like Mayweather promotion and Golden Boy thinks the same way thats probably why they did not wanted to pay a lot for the undercard fights and picked cheap once, I will buy it and watch it just cuz I like watching Floyd regardless of who he fights but I think for many fans undercard does play a role.

I say about 700k

4 to 5 hundred thousand. It's most likely perceived that Mayweather isn't taking much of a risk. Just full filing his Showtime contract. I think Maidana has a good chance. Better than the first time around. Although not good enough to pay 60 bucks to see Mayweather get beat.

Floyd is still the PPV king, but the 1.2M+ people who would buy fights against Guerrero or Ortiz are starting to lose interest. I think GBP is going to try and push Canelo into the May 5th slot for Canelo/Cotto because they feel that fight would probably do better than Floyd VS anyone in GBP's stable.

Now is the time for Floyd to seriously look at the Manny fight, but Bob will probably rush Crawford up to get KO'ed or some other dumb shit like that.

I'd like to see Floyd VS Manny in May 2015 and then Floyd VS the winner of Canelo/Cotto for the 160 belt later in the year. Those two fights would ensure Floyd has the greatest PPV year of any fight, ever. After that, he can go on his way until sometime in 2017 when he's flat broke.

It may not be much of a factor, but the free streams on the internet have got to affect PPV sales eventually, if not already.

They've been around for a while, so not really a factor.

I think the fact this sold as well as it did shows just how powerful Floyd's persona really is. Everyone knew the outcome of this fight before it started...well almost everyone.

That's a great number, plenty of 'casual' buyers have realized that Floyd and Manny aren't going to fight and I bet that's a big reason they're both declining in buys. Floyd is still buttering the bread at CBS, they have to be ecstatic.

Explain to me how I bashed Chico there please. Just highlight the bit which I wrote that is disrespectful, because my reading comprehension is obviously suffering this morning.
