Soooo Bored

Post by diddy »

Am I the only one bored as hell with boxing right now?

Fight after fight after fight that MEAN NOTHING.

Other than Hopkins-Kovalev are there ANY fights scheduled for the rest of the year that are even remotely important or interesting?

Wilder-Stiverne. Is that even scheduled?

Groves fights a bum.

AA a bum.

Matthysse a bum.

Broner a bum.

GGG is -11,000.

Floyd we all know will win another decision.

Am I missing anything?

The past few weeks were interesting. I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to Quillin-Korobov and Donaire-Walters.

Seconded.
Seems to be a lack of meaningful contests or too many one sided predictable fights.

it's become to much about money rather than glory ,no one wants to lose so they fight easy fights rather than fight the best and we accept it ,why the hell do people pay PPV to see floyd beat up a fighter he can easily beat other than canello he hasn't fought a boxer that wasn't a massive underdog in many years . when was the last pick'em big fight ,i guess rigo vs donaire was a toss up before and that only happened because rigo needed a big name . boxing will fade away unless we get the big 50/50 fights like we once had like leonard vs hearns .
look at the middle weights GGG has become the man without beating the man why didn't martinez fight him instead of cotto ...because of money ...

Out here there used to be a pretty healthy boxing community, most mainstream sports fans had a rough idea who were the top boys in boxing.
Boy has that ever changed now.
I remember back in 2006 I went out to watch Calzaghe v Lacy and was quite chuffed at how many people had come to watch it, it didn't take long to realize they were all there for the UFC.
I would say around that time is when it started to die out here.
Yes people do come out for the Mayweather or Pacquiao fights but it's nowhere close to what it once was.
There were also a number of high profile robberies that the fans never seemed to forgive which didn't help the sport either, some of them still complain about it to this day and I cant blame them.
Seems like to many name fighters wanting to go the easy route.
The Heavyweight division is an absolute shambles which doesn't help things either.

Apparently Bob is saying there are "secret talks" going on that will get that fight made in 2015. He seemed to put a hard sell by date on it which was June 2015. If it doesn't happen before Cinco De Mayweather '15 it'll never happen apparently lol. I seen no mention of Floyd or a person speaking on behalf of Floyd in these "secret talks" so I highly doubt Bob is telling the truth. I will say Bob is a pro @ name dropping Floyd.

It's been a gradual decline for me during the past 5 yrs or so. Made up superstars created in episodes of 24/7 instead of in the ring, safety first champs, non-competitive match ups, multiple belts, and frankly, limited talent pool. Very sad but the passion is definitely lost.

This is the problem with boxing... This is a spectacular fight and like all small divisions, it doesn't get tv coverage outside the country it happens in. With all the greatest fights, foty and foty contenders happening in these weight classes, it's sad boxing fans aren't following them.

It's a decent bout but no one cares about it.

Since Donaire lost to Rigondeaux, pound for pound talk has been off for both of them.

Some have been touting Guillermo the next big thing, granting him in some cases a Top 5 P4P rank.
Kidding me ... off 1 fight at 33 years of age.

totaly bored, everybody fights bums. algieri bum, rubio bum. ggg should be boxing quillon and pac somebody like provodnikov or thurman.

on top main event fights like canelo-lara have just been boring.

and so many quality boxers rarely fight like mickey or rigondeaux.

boxing is super boring right now and it aint getting better, because a lot of great fights wont happen like kovalev-adonis, why, simply because boxing business suck.

exactly.

it has to be a combination of both, good money and glory.

thats why promoters and managers have to give more cash to boxers, so at the end of the road, the boxing stars are millioneres and dont need to fight for money anymore, but for glory, so many big fights aint happening.

You are Preaching to the Choir. People in the top 10 of a division need to fight each other. If someone is injured, another top 10er needs to take their place. Everyone will make more money and the fans will be Happy. It's not rocket science !
