Usyk is a good fighter. That will be a good fight someday when Jordan has the world title and Usyk wants to challenge for it.

Jordan is ranked #26 by the WBC and #22 by the IBO. He is ranked higher than Usyk in both. Jordan will continue moving up quickly as he is now boxing on major shows and will soon be on television. I see Jordan winning another regional title in the near future and then being ranked in the top 10 in the world.

Rankings don't mean much mate and did you seriously mention the ibo?, the last guy Jordan faught usyk beat him in more convincing fashion in his 2nd fight.

Usyks ahead of him, also you should look to get him fights in Europe , barely any top cruiser weights are based in america

Nice to see Jordan finally taking on a top 100 fighter a win will see him jump from 78 to the high fifties in the IWBR. Joel Godfrey is 86.

Usyk has taken the fast route and already ranked 35.

I'm not really excited for this fight. Godfrey has little power, and has only one OK win. I guess it's not a terrible fight, it is a step up in that sense. I just don't see any risk factor in Shimmel's 17th fight here with Godfrey. It being a step up says more about the other 16 opponents. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I want to see him in a fight that looks interesting on paper...

Good match up I have loss decisions to both Godfrey and Jordan I feel I won or at least a draw with Godfrey, but Godfrey will go in sparring partner mode soon as Jordan catches him but Jordan needs rounds and he will get them from Joell best luck to both fighters

Jordan's last opponent, Epifanio Mendoza, barely hit Jordan other than hitting him low and behind the head in clinches and several times late when the referee was breaking the boxers. It was an easy bout for Jordan. A week ago Mendoza beat an undefeated Cuban who was a former amateur star by knocking him down three times to win the unanimous decision.

Now I read that Francisco Palacios is fighting the "very dangerous" Epifanio Mendoza in his comeback fight after his 2 year layoff since losing to Wlodarczyk for the world title.

Uysk still did a better job on him

And to suggest that Jordan will have a world title before usyk is stupid

And rey recio was no amatuer star, how did you come up with that?

I like the fact that Shimmell has fought a combination of Heavyweights and Cruiserweights on the way up. Also like the fact his opponent (Godfrey) has never been stopped.

Those are good challenges.

The guy espinoza beat was indeed an amatuer star and world amatuer champ but moved up from 168 to cruiser for that fight so im not surprised that happened

a youth world champion not a senior world champion, i wouldnt call any youth boxer a star amatuer, when he did move up to senior class he couldnt hack it

also he boxed 30 pounds lighter as an amatuer with same day weigh in and is now fighting at cruierweight with day before weigh ins

Jordan is taking it slow, working his way up. Looks to me to have great potential, time will tell. Some posters want him going a little faster, but his managers know what's right for him. These fighters from GR are generally pretty good.

Recio won the 2007 World Cadet Championships when he was 16 and won the 2008 World Youth Championships when he was 17. He boxed in the 2009 World Championships at age 18 at 165#. He won 2 bouts including defeating the Russian boxer before losing to the German boxer by 1 point. He seems to have disappeared from the international scene sometime in 2010 when he was still a teenager. Maybe he defected at that time. He turned pro in 2014 at 23 years of age.

underage world titles mean nothing if you can't make the jump to senior which he could'nt he wasnt an amatuer star

he did'nt defect either we never heard about him after 2009 because he couldnt make the national team

he then defects and gains 40 pounds and his a good? not a chance , he wasn't an amateur star

He did make the senior squad as he fought in the 2009 World Championships. He also competed in a few other senior class tournaments. Not winning world titles at 18 & 19 is not unusual which is why a lot of the boxers who win the international tournaments are older amateurs (25+).

he couldnt make the team after 2009 , he obviously couldn't cut it at senior level. Well he could'nt win world titles and 17-20 and he couldn't even win national titles after that so he regressed a lot or just wasn't good enough for senior level
