TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
Canal 4 in Nicaragua, bitches, or Fuji TV if you want to giggle at the Japanese commentary (& maybe catch a glimpse of Fighting Harada. I mean, who wouldn't want to catch a glimpse of Fighting Harada?).
Hai!
PM me for details, kindly keep it on the down-low & we can all watch some boxing, right?
PS: Boxing Prospect's a boy in the know, as well...
Start is apparently 21:30 Tokyo time.

Surely Gonzalez is going to hammer his eyes shut in this one?

IDOLATER!
Ahem. Well, that is extremely likely.
But it's gonna be a war.
& fvck me man, would you rather go to work on a Friday, or watch two tiny dudes half a world away beat the ever-living fvck out of each other?

Canal 4 starts at midday UK time so I assume they are showing Gonzalez live with a bit of fluff and build upDatsue wrote:Canal 4 in Nicaragua, bitches, or Fuji TV if you want to giggle at the Japanese commentary (& maybe catch a glimpse of Fighting Harada. Fuji TV is at 1:30PM UK time and will likely be "as live-tape delay" with Murata Vs Luna Flores, Inoue Vs Samartlek and Yaegashi Vs Gonzalez in that order.
Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
I'm working from home, so doing both!

There's some weird news channel streaming now, I've had to mute it.

yaegashi's got a good set of wheels on him, which I think may allow him to- not pick and poke, a bit better than but you know what I mean- have some success, for, like, 4 rounds.
but yeah, he's getting walked down and stomped, I think.

It's 2:25AM in Nicaragua at the moment so I'd not assume much good would be on there.orbtastic wrote:There's some weird news channel streaming now, I've had to mute it.
FujiTV will have Japan Vs Uruguay football on before the boxing
Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
I suppose he has the advantage that Gonzalez hasn't really had a tough fight for some time, he's had a number of pushovers. Anyone know why he's not been in title contention for so long? I noticed Ioka lost the other month, too, bid for title in 3rd weight. Didn't see it though.Counter-puncher wrote:orbtastic wrote:Surely Gonzalez is going to hammer his eyes shut in this one?

Gonzalez was supposed to fight Ioka last year then the bout never materialised. Unlike Andre Ward the Nicaraguan wanted to remain busy so that's what he did whilst awaiting a big fight.
Ioka Vs Amnat was interesting though Ioka looked VERY poor for the most part. He returns in a little over a week. Interesting few weeks at 112 coming up.
RE Those pushovers, they include Francisco Rodriguez Jr-Current unified champion at 105 and Oscar Blanquet who had given Yaegashi a tricky night not much before Gonzalez wiped the floor with him.

Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
Same HOWEVER the loss to Amnat certainly doesn't make him a bad fighter. He fought a bad fight and lost. It happens. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't bounce back and claim a world title at Flyweight (maybe finally getting the Gonzalez bout or the Yaegashi rematch).Counter-puncher wrote:i had some high hopes for Ioka. Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
Yeah, Estrada/Segura and Amnat all fighting in the next week? All five 112lb titles on the line, quite unusual.
Take the point about Blanquet and Rodriguez but Blanquet has lost again, against lower opposition but Gonzales blitzed him. Rodriguez has unified titles way down at straw though [since] but he has yo-yo'd up and down the weights. He did have that crazy fight with Takayama though, he looks positively skeletal.
I think it's fair to say the other three were definite knockovers.

Both look in great shape from the weigh-in.

Blanquet's last loss came to Salgado right? A contender at 115 ;)
Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
Anyone watching Fuji TV without niji? I can't get it to work.
Canal 4 is working well but I'd like to see the undercard.

Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
ha. well it's all about levels I guess - I like to look at it like "what's the guy he beat, best two wins? then what's his best two wins...etc".Boxing Prospect wrote:Blanquet's last loss came to Salgado right? A contender at 115 ;)
I think we are in agreement that Chocolatito is several leagues above them :)
I don't mind who wins tonight, I like them both but have been a Gonzalez fan for some time, I love his stone faced approach and his combination punching.

Re: TV for Yaegashi vs Gonzalez
I also love them both: if Gonzo wins, the Yanks might sit up & take notice, particularly if he then goes on to fight the winner of the (ohmygawdi'mcumming) JF Estrada vs Giovani Segura fight on Saturday.
Whereas if Yaegashi wins, I can see the Japanese anointing him as a Living God King or something. & I can not only make stupid jokes confusing him with the protagonist of the 80s Animé, but that meticulously edited version of Akira that I've been splicing together with footage from his fights won't have been wasted, after all.
