Donald Curry v. Pipino Cuevas
Donald Curry v. Pipino Cuevas
A Slugfest.Who would win?Two big punchers with not good chin.
Re: Donald Curry v. Pipino Cuevas
Can't see Donald knocking Pipino out like Hearns did, on point, he would win 12, 13 rounds out of 15 and win a huge unanimous decision. But if Pipino caught him like Jun Sok Hwang did, it would be a wrap for Curry, who couldn't take the hook or a tremendous shot like a Leonard could.
Re: Donald Curry v. Pipino Cuevas
Pipino Cuevas would have only a puncher's chance against Donald Curry, a fighter with far more skills and talent.

Re: Donald Curry v. Pipino Cuevas
Pipino's power and tenacity during his prime, would have been far too much for the fragile (physically and mentally) Curry.
The Texan would have boxed nicely for a few rounds, but would have quickly unraveled once he tasted Senor Pipino's huge left hands.
BTW, during his title years (1976-1980). Cuevas didn't show any signs of having a "not good chin."
Defense wasn't his forte and he took bombs from a host of contenders without blinking. Ranzany, who could belt, blasted him early but Pipino barely noticed.
Only after the Hearns bout did his chin appear to regress.

This. It could almost look like a mismatch if Cuevas doesn't start well and Curry gets into a groove, but Cuevas obviously has the power to turns things around at any given moment.Chuck1052 wrote:Pipino Cuevas would have only a puncher's chance against Donald Curry, a fighter with far more skills and talent.
