Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
What do you think?
Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
Styles make fights. However he also could be aswell.
Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
he would win very easily..I liken him to Paulie Malignaggi, but algieri is taller, longer reach and hits a little harder. Saw the activity and movement give broner problems.Algieriwould clearly win 10 rounds
Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
Algieri would beat Broner so easily it would be laughable. He would just outwork from the outside. It's a fight I would give Broner very little chance to win but the oddsmakers would actually make Broner favored figuring he would get more wagering money from idiots.

I agree, that fight is a gambler's dream. I'd be all over that like it was Stiverne-Arreola II.diddy wrote:Algieri would beat Broner so easily it would be laughable. Broner relies mostly on athleticism and speed. Algieri's base is footwork. Ring generalship kills athletically dependent fighters. Just ask Bernard Hopkins.

Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
I'd say Algieri is the better fighter, but there would be fighters that would make Algieri struggling same way Broner does. JM Marquez comes to mind.
It would be nice to see an Algieri-Broner match next year.

We have all seen enough from Broner to know he would lose to basically every top guy between 140-147.
About 12 guys off the top of my head spanning both divisions.

you guys are allowing your dislike for broner to cloud your better judgement. to be honest I think Antonio demarco beats algieri. (we all know how that ended against broner). I think adrien beats algieri easily because he can walk him down without fearing actually getting hurt. Ab's hand speed would partially negate the fact that algieri is making laps around the ring, even at 5'10.

I think you're first sentence is spot on.beatdown337 wrote:you guys are allowing your dislike for broner to cloud your better judgement. to be honest I think Antonio demarco beats algieri. I disagree with the rest though. I'd pick Algieri over Broner in a close one. Too much height and work rate for AB to overcome.
Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
The logic of this topic is flawed. Algieri might possibly be better than Broner regardless, though.

Algieri is probably better at paying his taxes than Broner.diddy wrote:Algieri would beat Broner so easily it would be laughable. He would just outwork from the outside. The answer to this one is pretty clear, however, I wonder if people would have bitched and moaned had Pacquiao had been lined up to fight Broner and not Algieri, prior to the Taylor bout.
Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
I think Broner vs Pac would have sold much better. Who wouldn't love to see Broner get beat down by Pac??? I won't argue who is the better boxer, because Algieri has only recently achieved the fringe contender status, imo. Broner has been a fringe contender at or near his current weight longer. I think Broner vs Algieri is a pretty even fight, and would expect Pac to beat both. Betting-wise I would favor Broner to beat Algieri in a close fight.Boxing Prospect wrote:The answer to this one is pretty clear, however, I wonder if people would have bitched and moaned had Pacquiao had been lined up to fight Broner and not Algieri, prior to the Taylor bout.

Yeah just ask Roy JonesImpractical Poster wrote:Broner relies mostly on athleticism and speed. Algieri's base is footwork. Ring generalship kills athletically dependent fighters. Just ask Bernard Hopkins.
Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
I guess I will jump on the Algieri bandwagon if he schools Pac with his ring generalship and skills, but until then I won't. Broner is a 2 or 3 time world champ, and not by accident. Even in the Maidana fight, which he lost, he was still in it to the end and had a chance to win while Maidana was gassing. The fight was fun to watch but I predicted Broner would win. He is fun to hate, but better than most say he is.Othro wrote:Yeah just ask Roy JonesImpractical Poster wrote:Broner relies mostly on athleticism and speed. Algieri's base is footwork. Broners a dumb brawler and Algieri atleast has some intelligence. hard to tell either way which one is better based on one common opponent

It takes a whole different skill level to "school" Pac than it would to beat Broner. To judge Algieri's ring generalship and skill based on whether or not he school a top 5 p4p guy is a bit silly.
Totally agree with your last sentence though. Broner is much better than he's being given credit for.

Re: Is Algieri better than Broner? He beat Taylor more easily
I read an article recently stating that Broner's people are looking for a title and Algieri is likely on the menu. If this fight did come off, I like Algieri's chances. He is tall, quick, rangy, active, and moves well. I can see him outboxing Broner.

The fact that you called him a dumb brawler forces me to ask, did you even watch the broner-taylor fight?Rodian wrote:Broners a dumb brawler and Algieri atleast has some intelligence. hard to tell either way which one is better based on one common opponent

Dead serious. Guys why are we acting like algieri is some kind of uncaged beast. He got a win over provo that most didn't agree with, and he beat taylor. Other then that, he doesn't really have any names on his resume. Strangely enough, demarco is reportedly signing to fight Jessie vargas on the pac-algeiri undercard. So maybe winners and losers of those 2 contests will face one another and we wont have to debate it...dempseyfire wrote:beatdown337 wrote: to be honest I think Antonio demarco beats algieri. .

I don't care how much Algieri moves, a fighter without power gets walked down and beat by Broner.
People don't like Adrien so they act like he lost to Malinaggi. In the real world, Adrien landed all the punches that mattered. It would be the same thing against Algieri.
I think most boxing fans 90%-99% would rather see Paquiao/Broner, than Pacquiao/Algieri.
