If they lose those guys, they are done since they have pretty much just canelo and oscar's nephew.
Is Showtime effectively in the same boat? I just don't get why they'd put something like Garcia/Salka or that Berto crap on TV unless there was an implicit threat that they wouldn't get future fights with Heymon fighters.

Basically yes mate. They're all being held to ransom, but think about when has a TV company ever shown a brain in regards to boxing?

Whether it's HBO or Showtime, get in with the suits & promise to do better next time/eventually/somewhere down the road & you can put what you want on the air. All TV executives ever seem to do is bend over backwards (to take it deeper) from boxing power-brokers. It's like it's on the job requirement or something.

Personally I think that, with Espinoza at Showtime, it's the Mayweather fetish. Floyd's probably one of two fighters the board at Showtime have ever heard of, Espinoza looks like a star to them 'cos he got them Floyd, Haymon delivered him, so Haymon's gonna get what he wants forever, or at least until Espinoza gets whatever thing he's angling for/gets shit-canned.

TV companies use boxing, boxing promoters try to use TV. We sit here & shovel the shite into our eyes. That's really all there is to it. & I'm with you, btw, I like to bitch about it.

I didn't think it was that bad of a card. The favored fighters won. But it was no where near the crap they aired a couple weeks ago. This card was pretty much in place to stage a Broner/Matthysee bout. The Berto bout just complete the tripleheader.

Al Haymon is a Manager/Advisor he's not a promoter. So I don't get how he ruins boxing.

That's like saying "Mmm, that sandwich was full of sewage, but hey, it's better than the one I had last week! That was full of ground glass & sewage!"

D'you know how many underdogs have won on Showtime this year? Main event & undercard combined?

Have a guess.

PS: YAY for sewage sandwiches.

Like it matters anyhow. I'm not going through that much trouble. An underdog is most likely going to lose anyway. But off the top of my head, Brook was a pretty healthy underdog. Herrera was too, and he gave Garcia all kinds of issues. Maidana was a heavy underdog against Broner....forget if that was this year or the tail end of last.

It just comes natural for many of you to complain about pretty much anything. Sure, I would like to see more competitive fights on a regular basis. But that's not how boxing has been for years now. And it is a big reason why I am now such a huge MMA fan. But I have come to expect this from boxing. I thought the card was decent. I enjoyed it. I was intrigued by the undefeated fighter put in front of Matthysse. And the main event was competitive and fun to watch. I understand, too, what it was billed for.... to stage a Broner/Matthysse bout. Just as the other event was to stage a Garcia/Peterson bout.
