Don't go into the business of boxing for god sake. For a guy who loves to post balance sheets and venn diagrams your analysis of the situation is just so far out.expe wrote: Sky TV is not the be all and end all, and Frampton could get his own deal with them, or any other channel that's willing to show boxing, Matchroom have the TV deal, not Quigg anyway and they shouldn't be involved in the fight, Frampton choosing to make a voluntary defence against Quigg doesn't mean they're required to co promote.
I wouldn't want to see the fight on Sky anyway, shite, biased coverage and a complete rip off, allegedly or a terrestrial channel wherever possible for me.

Frampton could sell more than Quigg does in Manchester at this stage, now he has the title the support will only get bigger. And lets be honest, even if Frampton only draws big in Belfast, that's better than not drawing at all like Quigg.lillywhite14 wrote:Frampton beats Quigg but seems a few here are overstating Carl's ability and name somewhat.
Frampton brings the big numbers and a real belt. He only brings the big numbers in his hometown and as for his belt, well, as much as I like Martinez, Munroe dealt with him years ago, and that whole fight was geared towards Frampton winning.
Quigg will earn well at matchroom and be in the mix for other decent fights with them eventually, with or without Carl.
I wouldn't mind seeing it but it's not a real must see fight for me. Both are overrated. Both nice chaps so if they do fight I hope they both get paid well.

Wonder why it's £30.expe wrote:They have it available but it's like £30, I don't think they see it as a viable financial option at this stage, monthly subscriptions are a far more stable model for them.lefty wrote:Have allegedly considered doing PPV for certain fights so that they could put on the really big events or because it's a subscription boxing channel already, it's not feasible?
Frampton-Quigg is the sort of fight that should interest terrestrial TV, instead of the BBC spending the license fee on the last night of the proms and all the other shite they show, put some live sport on(not womens football) and show something that people actually want to see. If all the big fights are £15+ a time on sky box office boxing will remain a minority sport, we need someone to take a step back and realise what's possible, if Froch-Groves II can do 900,000 buys on PPV, how many people would have watched if it was live on BBC 1? That interest would filter down and benefit all levels, from inspiring kids to start boxing to putting more money in every fighters pocket as the increased interest and coverage filtered down to shows like tonight and into the small halls.
Re: Official boxrec RBR thread - Manchester and Mayweather cards
You seem to be confusing me with someone else here james, I fully understand that won't happen, but it is what should happen if things worked the way their supposed to, Frampton is the draw and the champion, Quigg wants a shot at his title, so Frampton should dictate the terms, unfortunately Scott's plastic toys r us title means things won't work like that and he will get a bigger cut than he should and Matchroom will co promote.jameswilson wrote:Don't go into the business of boxing for god sake. And the reason Matchroom will co-promote is they have the more lucrative TV deal.expe wrote:You seem to be confusing me with someone else here james, I fully understand that won't happen, but it is what should happen if things worked the way their supposed to, Frampton is the draw and the champion, Quigg wants a shot at his title, so Frampton should dictate the terms, unfortunately Scott's plastic toys r us title means things won't work like that and he will get a bigger cut than he should and Matchroom will co promote.jameswilson wrote:Don't go into the business of boxing for god sake. Probably true but I find it all a little 'so what?'expe wrote:Frampton could sell more than Quigg does in Manchester at this stage, now he has the title the support will only get bigger. The difference between them record wise is Martinez, a fighter I think Quigg would also beat and somebody as I mentioned above, as much as I like him, isn't exactly top of the tree elite.
People talk as if Frampton is a megastar. He really isn't. I read some on here the other day talking about him beating Rigo. Ridiculous. Rigo would beat Frampton and Quigg on the same night, one after the other.
Carl beats Quigg, relatively comfortably too ( by 3/4 rounds I reckon ) but this fight is more Cleverly/Bellew than Benn/Eubank.

"Frampton-Quigg is the sort of fight that should interest terrestrial TV"
If they weren't interested in Froch vs Groves 2 they are not going to be interested in this. The average fan on the street might vaguely know who Frampton is but that's not enough for BBC, ITV etc jump in

I think Frampton would beat Quigg via possibly relatively early aswell. It would be a close and competitive fight up until that point though.lillywhite14 wrote:Probably true but I find it all a little 'so what?'expe wrote:Frampton could sell more than Quigg does in Manchester at this stage, now he has the title the support will only get bigger. Rigo's overrated. Frampton knocks him out.lillywhite14 wrote:People talk as if Frampton is a megastar. He really isn't. I read some on here the other day talking about him beating Rigo. Ridiculous. Rigo would beat Frampton and Quigg on the same night, one after the other.
Re: Official boxrec RBR thread - Manchester and Mayweather cards
I don't think Rigo is as good as people make out, I remember seeing him struggle somewhat with a less than stellar opponent a couple of years ago, but he's good enough to beat Frampton at the minute.Horse wrote:Rigo's overrated. Re: Official boxrec RBR thread - Manchester and Mayweather cards
Rigondeaux v Frampton would be a very close call.
I don't think some people realise just how good Frampton is yet. I see similarities with Calzaghe, for a long time people didn't realise how good he was either.

Cubans have been getting exposed left, right and centre this year.lefty wrote:And you say I was saying things that dont make sense. I say that as a frampton fan.
They are nowhere near as good as their fanboys like to think and Rigondeaux is no different.

Beyond being Cuban what do Gamboa and Solis have in common with Rigondeaux?Horse wrote: They are nowhere near as good as their fanboys like to think and Rigondeaux is no different.

Typical. As soon as I decide to pull an all-nighter for the Mayweather fight, I suddenly feel knackered. Yawn. Not at all sure I'll make it to 5am.

Soto Vs Molina is a very good fight. Soto seems to be winning but it's very competitive and all action

I think Joshua is destined to become our best heavy yet, or at least equal to Lewis. Also, there is not much in his generation, not anyone decent.
He's leagues ahead of Bruno, and I think smoother than Lewis at a similar stage. The only question is the chin.
I would happily put a grand on him becoming world champ within 3 years.

I'd question his stamina more than his chin at this stage.reggaereggae wrote:He's leagues ahead of Bruno, and I think smoother than Lewis at a similar stage. The only question is the chin.

Yeah both are questions. But at least stamina/fitness can be alteredHorse wrote:I'd question his stamina more than his chin at this stage.reggaereggae wrote:He's leagues ahead of Bruno, and I think smoother than Lewis at a similar stage. The only question is the chin.
